2015 SOCON offseason thread - signings, transfers, program news
As I've done the last few seasons, I wanted to start a catch-all thread for SOCON basketball news during the offseason.

To start things off, here's a bit of shocker: Mercer stud Ike Nwamu announced his plans to transfer according to Jeff Borzello of ESPN:

I didn't see that coming. Obviously he thinks he'll land at a big name school for a tourney run. I hope he does. This makes 2 transfers in his career and he will very likely end his career in his 4th different D1 conference.

Yeah that crossed my mind to about Nweke transferring twice. Hope he finds what he's looking for.

For sure. He was big for Mercer in his 2 years. Would be a great asset to anyone.

Mercerfan,

Your boy Ike Nwamu signed with UNLV. Pretty impressive.

Samford acquired 6'8" Auburn transfer, Alex Thompson. Thompson produced little at Auburn:

Excuse me-didn't know where else to post this.

Would the SOCON accept UAB as a member since they may drop football??

Would the privates object?

Would the league be unhappy with 11 and need to go to 12?

Would no football keep them out?

Probably never happen-just wondering what the SOCON would consider?

It looks like we'll be facing Coach Slay this upcoming season:

Interesting, it says Coach Bartow knew someone and got Slay in, more or less....

Off topic question not deserving of its own thread: will Bartow possibly find another head coaching job in the ASun or SoCon?

No. His head coaching career at the D1 level has come to an end.
