Thor to Denver!
James Casey to be reunited with Coach Kubiak, Owen Daniels, and virtually the entire prior Texans coaching staff. Congratulations, James!

Thor to Denver!
I've been a Broncos fan since before I'd ever heard of little ol' Rice University.
This is very cool to hear and I can't wait to see Casey in that certain shade of orange!

Congrats to James. I'm guessing he will be used as a fullback more than a pass catcher.

He will be the starting fullback, but you may recall that while he served the same role at the Texans, they would occasionally throw him the ball out of the backfield.

How often does Denver and Manning deploy a fullback? I'd guess as little as any team in the NFL.

Given how many redzone looks Julius Thomas got, if Casey can somehow work his way into and up the TE rotation, he'll be in line to score at least a few TDs.

Different coach this year. Kubiak definitely uses the FB.

Yes, but they still have the same offensive coordinator (Manning), at least until he retires. It will be interesting to see if the Broncos get a full buy-in from Manning because I don't see Kubiak's style meshing especially well with Manning. Nevertheless, I'm really excited to see Casey with the Broncos.

On the other hand, if there's anyone who will be excited about using a cerebral, versatile player, I would think it would be Manning. I could see Manning and Casey developing some decent chemistry.

Good point. I can see Kubiak sending out the fullback and running back with a set play and Manning calling an audible on every play. I guess I'll have to see it before I really get a good idea of how this will work.

It is amazing how underutilized Casey has been. Particularly at Phila where they paid him a pretty hefty number to basically be the third string TE.......

RE: Thor to Denver!
Mark my words, this is where James Casey truly enters the public consciousness. This is where he becomes a household name. Someone give me odds; I will take them.
There's no 3-year plan. Kubiak has to win now. This season. So I don't care what offense he's run in the past; he's got a 39-year old QB that is completely irreplaceable and completely immobile. Denver HAS to protect Peyton, and Casey will be one of the main guys tasked with keeping him upright. Kubiak will construct schemes to protect Peyton, and Peyton will audible to whatever plays he deems best at the line. In other words, Thor will be on the field, and Manning will see endless mismatches for him.
Add to that how much Peyton LOVES dumping it off, LOVES smart players, and LOVES hard-working players. I predict that Peyton LOVES James and the two become fast friends. Casey will show up in Denver--or wherever Peyton is now--and like all of Manning's past WRs/TEs, they will hold their own offseason passing drills. Just like they did at Duke last week. And Peyton will fall in love with Thor's Spiderman hands.
Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne would've been successful with whoever threw them passes. Demaryius Thomas had some success before Peyton; though Manning really made him a star. But look at what Peyton did for utility guys like Dallas Clark, Marcus Pollard, Julius Thomas, Brandon Stokley, Austin Collie, Emmanuel Sanders, etc, etc. Even pass-catching backs like Edgerrin James and Joseph Addai. And no offense to Owen Daniels, but he's logged a lot of hits and has had a few injuries. I'd be surprised if he makes it a whole season.
Here's my prediction: Peyton will bond with Thor. Peyton will get Thor on the field. Peyton will get Thor the ball. Thor will have his best season as a pro. I'm calling 600 yards receiving, 8 TDs receiving, 2 TDs rushing, 1 TD passing. Mark it, Donnie.
GOOD LUCK, JAMES!! YOU CAN DO IT!!

All the Chiefs that matter are really young. Their time will come. Next year may be Casey's best, if not only, chance.

He is 30 now so there will not be that many more years playing football, but I expect he will be a success later in business.
