I've never understood that. Who carries around batteries and why throw them? They're expensive. You'd be better off throwing rolls of change.

The Dallas Cowboys have been hit several times in Philadelphia by Eagles' fans throwing snow balls with "D" batteries packed inside.

It is possible to create an intimidating place for an opposing team to play without resorting to some of this crap.

I have unfortunately witnessed some of the above on a couple of occasions and, in general, I think it is more of a problem than most realize.

I agree. I'll never forget that time I was physically assaulted at BC after the UCONN-BC football game in 2004. Unprovoked attacks are never okay (especially when it's a 40 year old drunken idiot throwing things at underage kids only because they are supporting their team).

Well, that was unacceptable, Husky, and I hope you reported that to stadium authorities. Did you report the guy and press assault charges?

Just as it was unacceptable the previous year when fans at the Uconn stadium hurled full beer bottles at BC student busses and rocked others.

This is type of behavior is never acceptable anywhere it occurs and has to be addressed when it occurs.

Didn't Philly fans also reportedly pelt Santa Clause with snowballs?

Yes, December 1968. Santa came out at halftime and he was a little thin and had a gray beard (not white). I guess he didn't look like the classic Santa. They booed him and some snow balls were thrown. Former PA Governor Ed Rendell was there and he laughs about it when it's brought up.

You're right. UGAg fans wouldn't ever agree with what was said. And certainly not a wide swath of other fans outside the state of Georgia.

Right. A bunch of Tech, Auburn and Florida fans, UGA's 3 biggest rivals. I've never seen anyone treated except with the utmost courtesy on campus (with one drunk exception who was yelling at the Clemson bench-but the people he was with denied knowing him), but I don't hang out in bars before the game. Florida and Auburn have a lot of obnoxious fans, especially Florida. One Auburn player even taunted Uga-and regretted it.

Well let's see Bullet. It has only been at Sanford Stadium where an elderly Georgia Fan seated near me had to pick shattered glass out of his wife's face when a half gallon whisky bottle tossed out of the Georgia section of the upper deck exploded on the seat in front of her, where obscene remarks about what the Big Dawg was going to screw was painted on the fans cars, and it was at Jordan Hare where Auburn got blamed for turning the fire hoses on the Georgia student section when it was actually done after a Georgia cheerleader was it in the face by a beer bottle tossed by one of her own fans. Oh, and I was in the president's box when the call came in from security at the urging of Georgia officials. So put a sock in it. Georgia fans are ridiculously intoxicated and rambunctious whether at home or away. Tech fans may be nerdy but we never had any such problems at Grant Field in my day. Getting your car robbed at the MARTA parking deck yes, but trouble with Tech fans no.

So, your stadium officials turned the fire hose on an opposing fan base?

The trick is to throw *used* batteries.

(I've never thrown projectiles in a sporting event, nor will I ever, but this talk about battery prices and budgets is dumb. Used batteries are free.)

Supposedly there is more of a back-story to the event. My buddy is an Eagles fan and goes nuts when this story is mentioned.

I've heard bad things about Philadelphia Eagles fans and Penn State fans....

I think for the college level, it's hands down Alabama

Poisoning trees, teabagging people, shooting their own fans....and of course the video where the middle aged lady starts a fight with an Oklahoma fan.

I don't think FSU fans are that bad at all.....

USC fans can be conceited

LSU fans can be drunken idiots

Texas A&M fans are delusional

Just washing the trash off the field. UGA fans are insufferable. The worst I have come across.

Looks can be deceiving and in this case were. The beer bottle incident preceded a press box announcement which when not heeded resulted in the water. Sorry, I know nothing stinks worse than a wet Dawg!
