The Geasey and old track field complex, rumored site for Temple Stadium ... I want is for them to name it Temple Stadium in perpetuity, without any future sale of ...

Good info here about the new stadium. Don't know if the link will work. Not good at that kind of stuff. Just did a copy and paste running a search on Geasey Field.

Please don't like Mike's garbage on here. Thanks. We will definitely sell naming rights to raise money considering construction costs are at least 2x everywhere else in the country.

Politics and financing.

Which are two of the biggest obstacles you could possibly need to overcome. There are about six or seven candidates that have thrown their hat in the ring to run for mayor of Philly, but not one has uttered a peep about supposting an OCS for Temple. Nor will they since it would be political suicide. Giving the Eagles money to build the Linc was easy because all of Philly is nuts for Eagles football. But interest in Temple football is very limited to just the Temple community, as is evidenced by the actual number in attendence at Temple games. In a city that's broke with numerous pressing needs, no politician will be on board to support millions for a stadium that so few genuinely care about. Unless Temple has some extremely wealthy and generous alums, it's hard to see this getting off the ground.

Considering the lack of interest in UConn football, if they can get a stadium built, we can too.

Completely dis-similar situation.

Huh?

First...it was the State of CT that built UCONN's stadium in East Hartford.

Second...no one has ever stated that UCONN had a football following like Alabama...but UCONN has pretty good attendance...especially for a team that doesn't win every year.

Please don't quote Mike's garbage. He has absolutely zero sources on anything. His musings are the worst.

We may get to the point of zero FBS schools playing in a NFL stadium.

Pitt, SDSU, Temple?, USF?, UMass, Georgia State... I think that's all of those remaining.

RE: Temple Stadium
Pitt, SDSU and Miami all have sweet deals with their NFL partners. I doubt that these three can make a strong enough case to justify the cost.

USF looks likely to get a stadium eventually.

Not sure about GSU. There situation is really bad. Maybe they drop down a level.

UMass is definitely headed back to campus. Maybe they also drop down if they don't get AAC membership.

Out of the teams currently playing in an NFL stadium, Temple can make the strongest case for building a stadium. We have a not all that great relationship with our NFL team. Essentially they are getting rich off of us by keeping the concessions and parking and trying to triple our rent.
No other schools campus is in need of an investment such as a stadium as badly as Temple.

RE: Temple Stadium
Heinz Field in Pittsburgh was a JOINT project between the Steelers (the Rooney family) and UPMC and the University. The Panthers are full partners in the stadium. So their situation is different, they are not renters in a "NFL Stadium."

LOL. We are buying Turner Field. SDSU may be left without an NFL team.
