NIU football ranks 54th in GROUP OF 5 attendance
Is this accurate? Really only a 13,563 average? That ranks 54th on this list.

Here you go

I suppose all the mid-week games don't do much to help this number. But what can you do, those ESPN televised games are important.

I'm from down-state, never actually been to a Huskie game yet so I really had no idea it was this low.

For those who think the AAC is a lateral move are not right!! 1)better schedule! 2)better schedule =better attendance. 3)schools are in Florida and Texas=recruiting hot beds. 4) better TV contract? 5) Master Facility plan gets done faster 6)people don't want to watch emu and schools who can only win 3 games. 7)maybe a springboard to big12. 8) if not its okay better than MAC! Those are my thoughts!! What do you think?

If being in the ACC means playing on Saturday, sign me up.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but I bet it doesn't mean that.

Really it means moving our Tuesday/Wednesday night games in November to Thursday and Fridays AND spreading them over the entire season. So instead of playing our biggest home game on the 2nd Tuesday of November we could play them on a Thursday night in early October.

To me both of those changes would be a big bump in attendance even without considering who we are playing.

The only way we are moving is if the NCAA keeps the 12 team requirement for a conference championship game. If they remove that requirement then there is 0 reason for the B12 to expand unless they get taken from.

Some interesting quotes:

"The newly formed American Athletic Conference leads the group of five in total attendance at 29,447 per game."

"Mix that in with the minimum coaches salary of 1.1 million and you can bet the house once the AAC finishes developing they will be bordering the Power Five in a number of facets."

Also of note... Yeah right...

51. Eastern Michigan 15,025 MAC 2-10

From what I've seen of our attendance and reported numbers, I feel that we're a little more '"accurate" than EMU and a number of other schools.

Not always a good thing.

It's impossible to compare attendance numbers when some schools report number of people in stadium (NIU) vs number of tickets sold (emu).

I bet coach Carey likes that part of the move.

Wait, there are people here who believe the AAC is a lateral move?

Wow how could anyone think that?

Better academic schools. Bigger football stadiums. Higher brand recognition teams. Bigger stadiums. Bigger crowds. Tougher schedule.

Yeah, some people just aren't thinking very big. But if it happens they will understand eventually.

If you're dreaming of a magical bump in attendance by joining the AAC then look no further that our former conference mates from Philly that made the jump. 23,370 isn't exactly a game changer for the Owls.

No sir, it is not.

It is yearly attendance. Of actual games.

The problem with the AAC is UConn and Cincinnati are trying to get out of the conference. So far they have not found any place to go. The ACC is not fond of UConn for some reason, it could be that their football program is poor. I would think someone would take them just to get the women's basketball program. Cincinnati has a good basketball and football program but at this time they haven't had any offers to move.

+1

NCAA needs to enforce actual attendance as paid tickets of actual people in attendance. Making up attendance from sponsors buying blocks of tickets is ridiculous.

If the 15K rule was ever enforced based on actual attendance most of the MAC would be pushed to FCS within two years. By far the worst attendance of any FBS conference at an average of 14K across the conference and that's with half the teams fudging the numbers.

I said nothing about enforcing the 15k attendance rule. Actually they need to drop it altogether because they don't enforce it at all.

They need to regulate/enforce how attendance is counted so it's more of an apple to apples number.

Yeah, the AAC has much sexier matchups than the MAC for sure.

I'm sold on your logic.
