2015-16 basketball scheduling news?
Nice to see the Bayou Bucket announcement in football the other day. Has anyone heard any information on basketball scheduling news for men's or women's basketball for next season? I think we need to upgrade the men's schedule for sure.

I suspect we'll try to play at least one non-conference men's game in California, or maybe even a tournament out there. With Max being a senior next year, and Marcus Jackson and Bishop Mency also being from Southern California, it would make a lot of sense to play at least one game at some place like UCLA, USC or another program in the City of Angels.

I'll see if I can hunt around online and see if there is any news anywhere.

Over the years, I have found it difficult to find a lot of advance info on how the next season's Rice basketball schedules get shaped up until near when they post it in the fall, so any news you can find and post is most welcome, FBO.

I think what you said about a California trip makes sense. When we had Mo Rivers on the team, I was hoping that would mean an eventual trip to the Atlanta, GA area, as we have several schools here which might be good to play: GA State, GA Tech, Kennesaw State, UGA, Mercer in Macon, GA. I still hope Rhoades can schedule something in Atlanta as fans here have waited a while to see Rice play nearby. (I think we played GA Tech in baseball several years ago, but I was out of town that week.)

We never made it to ATL while Morris Almond, who was from the area, was playing, which was a shame.

I did enjoy seeing the Owls play in Las Vegas at the South Point Tournament over Thanksgiving a few years ago, back when Kazemi and Oraby were playing.

This is a good page to keep track of basketball tournaments but Rice isn't mentioned in any of them yet. UCLA and Texas seem to be playing a lot of them (Texas is playing a game in China!) so their schedules might not have a lot of openings.

Or Loyola Marymount, Long Beach State, Cal St. Northridge, UC-Irvine . . . .

Saw tweet from @JonRothstein saying that Rice will play @Cal to open the season on 11/13/15.

Saw tweet from @BeaverSportsNow saying that Oregon State will be playing @Rice on 11/19, return date for home-and-home that started last season.

Would be interesting if Braun did the commentary for this one.

If I remember correctly, Mike told us on Saturday that we would have a lot of home games scheduled next year. I think he said 17 home games for 2015-16.

By the way, the delay in announcing next year's schedule results from the UAB dilemma, which should be resolved by early June.

Is Mike the dude who moonlights as an usher at Reckling? Good video with Sammy and Bailiff.

Ooops. No I won't be there. This is on Rice Homecoming weekend .. and I'll be in Houston for my 45th class reunion ... hopefully meeting up with a bunch of Parliamentarians during that time, too.

Definitely going to be some good opportunities for "signature wins" next season... Two Pac-12 teams, New Mexico... Hopefully we can get some good non-conference games at home besides Oregon State... I'd like to see ULL, SFA, and Texas Southern to name a few.

Great series, I'm assuming UNM returns @Rice in '16. Watching a game at the PIT is an awesome experience and have been consistently Top 50.
