Post U starting Hockey, Western AHA breaking off and forming new conference?
Post U, a DII for-profit school in Waterbury, Ct is starting M/W Hockey. The Womens team can be eligible for a DI championship if they play a DI schedule. The men's team would be in the DII NE-10, but that move doesn't preclude a later move to the DI AHA.
Where would Post play? Can't find an arena in Waterbury on the internet.
RIT, Canisius, Niagara, Mercyhurst, Robert Morris all have made noise about leaving Atlantic Hockey and starting a new conference with Bowling Green.
The Post move and Liberty adding to its rink signal to me that AHA will add those two teams down the road. Post staying in DII hockey is a dead end: they could just as well drop to DIII.

I didn't think there was a Division II in men's hockey, but I see 7 Northeast Ten schools sponsor it at that level. I'm kind of surprised the NCAA hasn't made them join the rest of the D-I party. If the Northeast Ten were D-I in hockey, it could get messy as Merrimack plays in Hockey East while Bentley and American International play in Atlantic Hockey.

DII doesn't offer any championships in hockey anymore. The NE-10 teams offer hockey without scholarships and play DIII teams too. St Anshelm of NH has denied interest to join Atlantic Hockey, which is a DI league without the full 18 scholarships. Maybe St Anshelm is moving up, and Post is taking its place. Seven teams for a conference doesn't work to well.
