"Mr. Mason", every post I have ever made on this forum is available for viewing and if anyone cared enough to check, provides solid proof of how utterly false that statement is. Furthermore, I am not on trial here. My personal beliefs have no bearing one way or the other as to the truth that the university should strive to preserve tradition and brand. For the record, damned right I am proud of my heritage, but if our colors were originally blue and gold, I would object just as strenuously if some pack of fools were now pushing blue and black. What I would like to know, is what is wrong with gray? Could some stupid-assed political correctness be a factor?
I actually love the gray and wish it was more prominently featured on our uniforms. I also primarily buy the gray clothing as I look better in gray than most blues that closely resemble the Memphis Tiger blue.
So, I actually share your personal preference on the colors.
But alternate uniforms, slightly off color branded goods (tough to get specific tones for many commercial products, a point often brought up in this discussion), some use of secondary colors (black, white, etc) are all fine in my book and most fans' books.
Pink goods for breast cancer awareness? Awesome.
Black goods b/c they look sharp and recruits want them? Awesome.
It's not like gray / Tiger blue will not be the base colors or the predominate parts of out color scheme now or in the future.
I also wish we'd go to home gray uniforms in hoops, but I find that is a very small consideration against the other issues Memphis athletics face.
No worries, we can agree to disagree, it's not personal. And we both like gray...
