Not sure what the argument is.

The results were acceptable.

Not exceptional and not always meeting expectations.

But they weren't unacceptable either, until this season.

The question really is - is acceptable fine at Memphis?

Posters make me laugh. On one hand what Pastner did his first 5 years is unacceptable; but Bobby Hurley is somehow "Memphis good."

What a joke.

Exactly.

Did they decide not to pursue Pastner due to the paycheck or the resumè?

There is always a new line of "hot" coaches out there. Next year there will be several Bobby Hurleys available. Plus Greg Marshall will be ready to move on next year. And as you point out, if Pearl is ready to move then he will be on his second year and it may be easier for him to move.

Why? He makes almost as much there as he could make anywhere, he had a billionaire listening to him, and he's 52. Short of a Duke, UNC, UK, IU, or KU, why would he leave?

Hurley took a program (Buffalo) to heights they had never achieved before. Pastner has had a few years of "acceptable" levels of success and a very disappointing season his past year. I am pulling for him to lead us great success, but starting to question whether he can.

Bobby Hurley also has a stronger coaching pedigree.

His dad was more prevalent, he was a star at Duke, actually played in the NBA, and was a McDonald's All-American. Bobby Hurley was a basketball star. Josh Pastner was a human victory cigar.

I posted that somewhere else, that Hurley actually played the game at the highest level.
