GED Help
Okay guys over the years i have asked for help about getting a job and if anybody knew places that were hiring and i have always had solid feedback which i am very thankful for.

I did not finish school and my entire life i have blamed that on other ppl (Another story for another time) I always thought i would eventually get my GED and be fine. But sadly i put that day off for years and years (Im 29)

Recently something happened in my life and i realized i need to stop blaming others and take a stand and get my education, And that starts off with me taking my GED test and completing it.

I have been looking online for places in the Memphis area and honestly i feel a bit overwhelmed.

Can anybody point me in the right direction? I would love to talk with a tutor or anybody willing to help me out honestly, Id like a chance to explain my story and why i have always be scared/nervous about getting my GED.

Feel free to PM or post in this thread if you have any advice or if you know a website or anything that i need to look into.

Thanks.

Not as hard as you might think. I got mine while in the Navy. I just bought a book on the GED test and studied hard for a while and passed on my 1st try.
But don't stop with the GED continue to educate yourself whether it is college or trade school.

I thought I would try college and to my amazement I got in. Took me 3 yrs. to finish but I would never have been able to get there without the GED. It's worth the time and effort.
But please remember to keep going for something even better. Oh yes, one more thing, don't think because you are 29 you may have waited to long.I graduated when I was 38.

Keep on keeping on! Good luck.

Ah, try calling Southwest Tennessee Community College at 335-5000 and they will point you in the right direction, oh I only have five degrees from there. Planning on getting two others, and working on my third at the University of MEMPHIS. (You can do it), at the age of 29, you will be fine, I was in my 30's when I started college and never got out as of today.

Also the Central Library I believe has an entire section for GED and, after success with that, college applications. If you haven't already, maybe give that a shot. Good luck!

RE: GED Help
29 probably feels old to you, but let me tell you, you're a mere kid to me. I wish that I could go back to 29, you'll be fine. I don't have practical advice to offer, just encouragement.

If I may suggest something that is mandatory for those I mentor in starting a business, you MUST devote at least 15 minutes a day to personal development. MUST. 30 is better, but 15 is minimum. Re-training your brain comes before all else.

You can find tons of great books at the library, I would start with 'Think and Grow Rich' by Napoleon Hill. It's lessons will transcend subjects, careers, time, everything.

Just to echo some of those above. Don't stop there. In fact, don't stop at all. Learning, growing, improving should be a life long effort. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

++++ Good work.

I was looking for some information like that to post, so I called the number that the banned dude posted, thinking it was Southwest College. I was gonna find out if they had classes for GED. It's not Southwest College Number.

To echo the echo, after attaining the GED, even after attaining more advanced degrees, there are lots of free classes these days for skill development, even (especially) in the technical/programming/computer industry.

Also look extensively into need based financial aid as you pursue higher educational goals.
