Exclusive: New Ted Cruz Super-PACS Take in Record Haul
Quote:Ted Cruz’s presidential effort is getting into the shock-and-awe fundraising business.

An associate of the Texas senator, a recently announced presidential candidate, tells Bloomberg that a cluster of affiliated super-political action committees was formed only this week, and among them they are expected to have $31 million in the bank by Friday.

Even in the context of a presidential campaign cycle in which the major party nominees are expected to raise more than $1.5 billion, Cruz’s haul is eye-popping, one that instantly raises the stakes in the Republican fundraising contest.

Although super-PACs have radically changed the pace at which committees backing presidential candidates can raise money, the Cruz haul is remarkable. There are no known cases in which an operation backing a White House hopeful has collected this much money in less than a week.

Take THAT Bush!

Cruz or lose!

Infighting is fun...

By the time Bush and Walker and Cruz and Paul finish beating each other up with all that money, will the Democrats have to do anything to win?

Field a viable candidate?

I did some work for the Phil Gramm campaign way back when. He, at the time, SHOCKED the entire field by stating that to run a successful campaign the candidate would need to raise an eye-popping 30 million dollars.

They now do that in a weekend...

Please let it be true. Cruz, Bush, Paul, it's shaping up to be a wonderful republican pool.

Now if Jindhal would throw his hat in I will be jumping for joy.

Ah yes, Pradesh the Exorcist. That would be fun. My guess is that he's deciding on whether he wants to be a stalking horse for Jeb Bush. Jindal can't win. But he could drain some votes from Cruz, thus helping Bush (who has to compete with Walker for the Country Club vote).

My guess is that someone will be funded on the sly by the Bush/Walker group. Santorum? Huckabee? Jindal?

I love stalking horses. You get one candidate to waste money to prop up a third candidate to attack a second candidate. Everyone loses. And in the world of "Citizens" United, its really easy to do.

Please, scream Benghazi and Cell phone all you want. Once you guys destroy Bush and Walker by forcing them too far to the right, they'll be toast.

All of HRC's negatives are on the table.

Hopefully Cruz and Paul work together a bit to neutralize the stalking horse. Surely it will be Santuckaberry.

Gotta be one BIG ASSS table. I can hear it creaking under the weight even now.

Can only imagine you applaud her cozying up to the Saudi's and other "tolerants". That'll be the bigger story, her pay for play and where all that dirty money has really gone.

It's certainly going to be fun to watch these guys destroy each other and make them say outrageous things to satisfy the Tea Party types.

Then as someone else has mentioned, they will be toast.

The issue for Bush/Walker is that they've got to get the other to drop out.

Even then, Cruz is going to be a real problem for Bush/Walker. Paul has his own base of support. So does Cruz.

Cruz will win Iowa. Paul might win New Hampshire. If it goes down like that, Bush is going to have a huge problem with the SEC primary.

If Cruz is in the lead after the SEC primary, watch for a total and complete meltdown in the Country Club/Business wing of the GOP. They know that Cruz would lose 41 states to HRC. Republicans would defect if Cruz were the nominee. Independents would break about 75-25 for HRC in such a scenario. And after Cruz and Paul and Bush fight each other in a bunch of desperate and nasty primary fights, HRC wouldn't even have to waste resources on him to damage his candidacy.

I think that's where Scott Walker comes in. If Bush is too damaged by the end of the the SEC primary, they might run towards him in order to try and stop Cruz.

A Bush/Walker alliance could make a good run.

Anyone else I seriously doubt. They won't be able to get close enough back to center to win.

Yep - and she's sleezy and slimy and devoid of any meaningful accomplishments enough that she shouldn't be able to win a dog catchers election. Ah yes - she has that defining "D" next to her name, so - no problem. She already has 45% of the electorate in the bag.

You're a fool if you truly believe that the Republicans need to run a "Democrat lite" moderate to win.

The # of conservatives that have stayed home for McCain & Romney for being moderates is staggering.

That is roughly the same comment that lost the election for Roomney. As long as republicans conitnue with this attitude, they won't win another election.

Didn't I just tell you that she'd win? Democrats don't care about character and accomplishments - it's obvious. Hillary will promise to keep the free flowers and candy flowing to the dependent class as well as speak on being a champion of women's rights and gay rights. Election over. It doesn't matter if any of it is speaking the truth or not.

Well when you offer 5% of the electorate Gay bashing, that gives HRC 5% in the bag.

When you offer 14% of the electorate racial profiling and voter suppression, that gives HRC another 14% in the bag.

When you offer 12% of the electorate 'deport momma' and voter suppression, that gives HRC another 12% in the bag. Even if the person doing it can speak Spanish. Especially if that candidate is a Batista Cuban.

So even before you get into the issue of women voters and liberal versus conservative, you pretty much have a 25% head start for a Democrat in a general election. So how does a GOP candidate get better than 2/3rds of the Anglo vote?

Watch out for Rubio. He might jump in as a stalking horse against Bush. Rubio would hurt Bush in Florida. Badly.

Rubio won't make it to Florida, and if he does, it is to pick up Bush's pieces should he falter in the earlier states. Rubio's political career is a result of being a Bush protege. He is the establishment's backup plan, IMO.

This is just so much bullsh!t it's laughable. However, that is how the narrative is spun and the vast majority of low information Democratic voters lap it up. So I guess perception = reality - even if it's not really true.

But then, the whole premise of the Democratic game is lie, and see how much will stick.
