Doubt it.

We should nip this thread in the bud now before it gets moved to the Realignment board and the UConn hating crowd comes out in full force.

They won't make any decisions right away. If they do anything it is unlikely to be before 2017 or 18. They would first try to convince ND to go all in.

Based in this article, the logical move is for the B12 to stay where they are in terms of membership as it is more payout to the schools. Any addition would need to bring a new market with a growing population.

Same with ACC though the shift to 3 divisions might mean 1 add unless Notre Dame decides to join as a full member. But again, why add more members when the payout does not increase per school.

Overall, this tells me the American could stabilize through the next TV deal renegotiation which is a good thing.

I rapidly devalue and lose interest in their meaningless stupid speeches every time they report that there's no more worthy programs and yet Waco/baylor Lubbock/tech for example bring nothing to the table.

03-lmfao Man, they're freaking good at devaluing a good program and increase the interest on tiny horrible market population ones. 03-puke

Sounds like they want the option should ND decide they want to be a full member.

UC and UConn are the only two that would get a look from the ACC. Though I do think they'll keep it in their back pocket for ND.

I think that's right. Then the door closes unless Texas and Oklahoma take their game elsewhere and the Big 12 breaks apart --- which is also a possibility.

If the ACC wanted UConn, they would have already done it...if ND decides to go full member, they now have the ability to do so.

My take on this: If I were the ACC, I'd go to 15 even if Notre Dame didn't jump all in at this point. This would give you three pods of 5. If, down the road, Notre Dame decides to sign on the dotted line then you'd simply have 4 pods of 4. A relatively minor adjustment. As for who the ACC's going to look at for #15...there's only two options: Cincinnati and UConn. Both make a ton of sense for various reasons. I don't see any interest in Memphis from the ACC, nor do I think they'd be interested in a directional Florida school when they already have brand names Miami and FSU in the fold.

Unfortunately, I think this deregulation is all bad for anyone that had hopes of getting into the BigXII. That door is virtually closed. (And because of that, I think this could hurt Cincinnati's chances of getting into the ACC)

The new proposal makes it easier for the Big 12 to add another team. The Big 12 need a travel partner for West Virginia without diluting the per share payout for current members. They can now play a conference championship game, add a major market (Cincinnati - Dayton), and increase TV inventory for Big 12 games. This new proposal provides for a number of opportunities for all P-5 conferences and P-5 candidates.04-cheers

When you can grab the 3rd most popular school in Tennessee you don't hesitate you grab them.

Who wouldn't want that epic UConn football program...and who wouldn't want to see UConn raise their NIT banner?

RE: UConn your golden ticket may be in the mail
Well, my reasoning behind thinking this shuts the door for BigXII expansion is that they've been hesitant to expand, period. If they're able to have their cake (a CCG) and eat it too (staying at 10), then reason serves that that's what they'll do. IMO this would be more damaging for Memphis than Cincinnati (I've always championed Memphis and Cincinnati making the most sense for the BigXII) as Cincinnati still has a shot at the ACC should the ACC go to 15.

I don't necessarily think UConn's a forgone conclusion to be #15 should the ACC actually expand, but I certainly think their chances are better this go around than last however.

Arguing over accomplishments between Uconn and Memphis would be as interesting as watching the Uconn women playing and winning a game by 90. Which I think is what they beat Memphis by.

Memphis would make more sense for the BigXII than UConn would. UConn would make more sense for the ACC than Memphis would. Even I, a notorious UConn hater and troll however, can admit UConn's accomplishments far out weight those of Memphis.
