USM beats Mississippi tonight 6-5. McCarty gets the win in relief, and Milton the save. Still leaving a ton of runners on base

RE: CUSA Baseball
That now makes 6 straight and we are 9-1 in our last 10 games (5 years) against that school. USM beat writer for Hattiesburg American tweeted post game that MCCarty (our regular midweek starter) will be moving to the weekend so it'll be interesting to see how our rotation goes this weekend meaning does everyone move up a day with Friday starter eliminated or will Sunday guy go to Friday with midweek starter going to Sunday and Friday guy out. Whatever it may be, all we know is our Friday guy is now our midweek guy which is fine now that our in state rivalries are over

The original plan was to move McCarty, who's a lefty, to Saturday so teams get a different look between the two right handers Carroll and McMahon.

May hurt us mid-week unless they can get Talley and Cockrell pitching better. They have the worst ERAs on the team and we have two mid-week games each of the next two weeks.

We had a game like that against WKU. We were up 6-2 when we took our starter out and lost 15-6. We must have bullpen issues.

RE: CUSA Baseball
We moved to 0-7 in midweek games.

Another excellent pitching performance was wasted by Tyler Troutt (same guy that had Vandy beat last week before being taken out).

Troutt left in the 7th with a 2-0 lead. By the time the top of the seventh was over it was 6-2.

Even more perplexing is that we are hitting and beating some of the best pitchers this league has to offer yet we can't score against the little sisters of the poor in the midweek. We faced five pitchers last night three of which had ERA's of 6.00 or higher and none of them had lower than a 4.00.

Mind boggling.

This one blows my mind too. You guys should have a great record and rpi. Instead, both are decent, but not great, simply because you cannot beat the team's you are supposed to. One or two of those games, sure weird things happen in baseball. But every time out? Weird

ODU beat Liberty 5-1 on Tuesday night, moving their current winning streak to 3 and improving their record to 17-13. They take on VCU at home tonight.

RE: CUSA Baseball
Question for Rice fans. How do you guys get elite high school talent to spurn offers the kids get from being draft picks?

Our staff has proven to be pretty good at beating out other schools in recruiting battles but we (almost) never win the ones against the Big League teams and the signing bonus they offer to go play in the rookie leagues or low A ball.

Tech at 15-15 has already matched their win total from last year when they finished 15-35. Congrats
