But I doubt this would have been a primary reason to add NIU to a conference.

Deregulating the need for divisions is totally different than deregulating the need for 12 teams. The article/source does not really say how far the deregulation will go.

If the 12 team requirement is removed though then I say our chances for the B12 will be drastically reduced from slim to none.

If the NCAA says that divisions are not required BUT having 12 teams still is then it helps our chances from slim to so you are saying there's a chance!

You would hope the Chicago media market will always be a selling point for us. Improve our facilities and keep winning!

When are the going to offer our MBA in downtown Chicago as planned?

If you don't like the rules, then change them I suppose. P5/big money logic right there. They only get to bully the rest of NCAA D1 because we all let them do so.

Schools in one of the few lucky conferences shouldn't have more say so than everyone else. Just let them leave the NCAA if they don't like the rules. Then (hopefully) college athletics will get restored to what it once was. No big money, no more arms race for facilities, etc. We'll finally go back to student athletics. The threat of a P5 break away is really a blessing in disguise.

Simply amazing.....it's bad enough the P5 try to do everything possible to maintain or expand the divide between them and everyone they consider to be lower, now they want to keep the lesser members of their own group down.

Deregulating the title games could allow for conferences to ensure its top two teams play in the game to boost the winner’s chances of being selected to play in the College Football Playoff.

So if someone other than Alabama, say a pesky Mississippi State or God forbid Kentucky or Vanderbilt ever gets lucky and manages to finish atop the division, they'll go with pedigree over on-field results to decide who represents their league.

And if that happens...get ready for some intra-conference cannibalism.
