hmm.... interesting. If big 12 decides to stay put, everybody might be staying where they are for a bit.

Affects FCS move ups more than anyone since theoretically there would no longer be a reson to go to 12.

It also means the SBC can hold a CCG without a 12 member. Doors are closing fast and some are going to be locked out (or given the boot).

Bad news for the schools wanting to move up. Could still see one or two get the call especially if UAB doesn't bring back football but overall I would say the door is slamming shut on the FCS.

Would be crazy to think that GS and App could be 2 of the last FCS move ups in a long time. lol

Does anyone think this could have any barring on NMSU and Idaho? I could see both scenarios playing out. One they give both the boot. Two they give Idaho the boot and give NMSU the all sports invite and stay with a 10 football 12 olympics sports breakdown

SBC could boot Idaho and still have a CCG(if they chose) with ten teams.

I believe an "amicable" parting with Idaho could happen much easier now for sure. Go with 10 teams or see if two quality programs want to join.

I would be all for that. Stay at 10 teams and still have the CCG, or see if some point down the road we could get 2 more teams in at the same time and create divisions. The rush to add someone for the sake of hitting 12 just went away.
Thanks for playing Liberty.

Probably one serious recession away from Idaho and Hawai'i being shown the door to the FCS. NMSU would probably be thrown a life-line and UTEP might take Hawai'i's spot in the MWC.....then the status quo may reign for 10 years.

no way Hawaii moves to FCS. They might as well just shut down football instead.

Correct. No FCS league is flying to Hawaii.

You know with this deregulation conferences could possibly dump under performing schools.

Better to let NMSU and Idaho go their own way then play a nine team round robin schedule. Determine the champions the old fashion way. Of course the conference would be missing out on those millions of dollars in TV revenue for a championship game.

I remember reading Hawaii does not get any MWC TV money.
They have their own local deal worth five million a year.

At this point, I see this as the end of the line for James Madison, Liberty, Eastern Kentucky, Missouri State, Jacksonville State, or any other school that was looking to move up.
If they want in, they better be prepared to make the pitch of a lifetime, because as of now, there is no reason for the Sun Belt to go 12 or beyond, there's no reason for CUSA to take anymore members, and there's no need for the P5 to expand beyond what they already have. If a school wants in, they need to sell what they can provide the conference.
