Duke-Wisconsin draws a 17.1 overnight
I believe Ohio State - Oregon pulled an 18+ rating in the football championship game.

Excellent number for bball. Let's see what the final numbers end up at.

Now imagine what it would have been had it been UK vs. Duke.

Would have been less. People liked the Wisconsin story more than the Kentucky one.

Probably would have been more because of the streak, but it certainly didn't take the hit like the uk idiots said it would because their lilly willy team wasn't there

Aren't enough people in KY to move the needle.

Anyone that doesn't think Kentucky vs. Duke in the championship game would have had ratings through the roof is nuts.

Two of the greatest basketball programs in history, an undefeated season on the line, everyone tuning in to hate Kentucky and so on.

The people I know were all rooting for ABKOD (anybody but Kentucky or Duke). They rooted for Wisconsin over Kentucky and Michigan State over Duke on Saturday. Monday night they rooted for Wisconsin over Duke. If it had been Kentucky vs Duke, they wouldn't have cared who won and would have been less interested.

The UK's game against ND TBS's highest rated show ever. That mark lasted less than a week, when it was broken by UK-Wisc. game. UK-Duke would have been off the charts, no matter how much me, you, your buddies hate those teams.

Exactly. Undefeated Kentucky vs. Duke for the national championship is game of the century type stuff. Probably better ratings than even UNC vs. Duke or UK vs. U of L would draw due to national interest. Not at all disappointed with what we got though.

Agree w/Coop here....2 of the most storied college basketball programs makes for the type of storyline that attracts casual viewers. It's Celts vs. Lakers in college ball. No doubt it crushes the rankings of any other game.

I think some of you are selling short the race aspect. Wisconsin was a natural draw for white folks to cheer for. That will move the numbers a bit.

I really don't think race has anything to do with it. I suppose bringing up race is what some "folks" just automatically do.

My opinion. In many basketball fans view, Wisconsin is the classic underdog, even though the reality is they are one of the top programs.

Midwest school. No glamorous one and done players. A hard nosed coach. Most important, their colors don't include a disgusting shade of blue.

Read something interesting about Wisconsin's MBB. Apparently has a zero graduation rate for African American men and an overall rate of 40% which was 3rd worst among the 68 teams in the tournament this year.

Well this was a discussion of the ratings. I have never worked in marketing, but I imagine they break down the ratings and look at demographics when deciding where to buy air time to advertise their products. I'm not versed in how advertising dollars adjust based on who your show is targeted to. But have you ever noticed how many new shows come out each year with mostly white casts, why do the network executives keep doing that?

When was the last time a mostly white team played for the NC? And when was the last time a mostly white team whose best players were white played for the NC?
explains why hockey is so popular in the tv ratings

And nascar.

But it seems we are getting off topic from what would draw ratings and advertising dollars to a mens' college Bball game.
