Someone show Forbes where Crockett HS is at. This kid is a good shooter and I would love to keep a local star close to home.

RE: Patrick Good
He's borderline. Might be able to play at D1 level. The kid a DB IMO is in the same league as Good. There is no size in the TRI-Cities area. These kids don't face good talent game after game.

Still has another year to mature. I believe he would be a good SoCon caliber player, but will look beyond playing in Johnson City. Hope I'm wrong.

RE: Patrick Good
Does he play AAU ball, if so, who with and against what level of competition? It's just too hard to gauge a kid's talent in East Tennessee at the high school level when there's zero competition.

High D1? No, not yet. I'm all for rooting for the local kids, but don't get carried away.

So with the right coaching and effort he could develop into a project player at the D1 level that redshirts and stays five years... I'm all for that, at ETSU's level they need a mix of redshirted players and freshmen that can at least come in and give 10-12 semi-productive minutes.
I figured if anyone had the scoop on this kid you would.

Yes, I think he could develop, especially under coach Forbes' tutelage, into a serviceable PG. Frankly, though, I think they're far better players available.

I think Good is an intriguing prospect. He has something that you cannot teach...the ability to get his own shot off. If he could get a little better defensively he can be a solid mid major player.

RE: Patrick Good
Based on discussion, where he plays, etc... he sounds like a preferred walk on who could red shirt and in time be a great story for ETSU turning into a scholarship player/contributor.
You never know though, he could turn it on and become good enough that ETSU snags him flying under the radar.

Unfortunately, we have not seen him play against anyone except for the regular East Tennessee public schools. Like Buccaneerlover mentioned, there are no real teams he has played against.

Our area is great. But we have a vacuum of talent. Those that have been around high level AAU ball have seen high school teams that would slaughter most D2 and D3 college teams. Cowherd of ESPN has stated many times that the upper echelon of AAU high school boys would DESTROY the entire WNBA. That's how good these kids are.

So, I am super happy for Good and I am a fan! But unless this season goes much different than last, look for Good to go Juco or to Carson Newman, etc.

Actually I watched him destroy opposing guards at the Arby's Classic as well as burying buzzer beater. I know Wofford is in on him.

The Arby's Classic is too small of a sample size to definitely put him as a strong D1 prospect. Also, his numbers at the Arby's are misleading. He averaged 27 points, which to an average fan would make him think he's the next Chris Paul. However, he took almost half his teams shots and only shot 39% from the field. Another concerning stat is he only averaged just 1 assist over that span. Half the teams shots and only 1 assist, not exactly what we should be looking for in a PG.

Patrick Good is very similar to recent Science Hill graduate Will Adams. Good and Adams are just about the same size. Good is a better shooter but Adams is without a doubt more athletic. Adams is a sophomore for Presbyterian but he is getting very limited playing time. Presbyterian went 10-22 this past season.

There are 351 NCAA Division 1 basketball programs. Could he make a roster for a D1 program? Probably yes. Do I want to use one of our scholarships on him? No.

Well said. +1.

I think sports fans (me too) have a problem letting two things exist in the same universe. It is totally OK for us to like and root for Good AND not want him for our team. It's like the Mister thing, folks act like we have to be totally in or out. Love me some Mister, but it is laughable to want him for an assistant. And it is OK to both like him and not want him. Polarizing topics don't always have to be.

Also, your Arby's comments on Good remind me of the end of Iverson's career and the current state of Steph Curry's.

RE: Patrick Good
Man, if you're going to mention Mister being "laughable" as an assistant or similar, at every opportunity, check your own polarity. Just saying. It's ok to like him and not want him (it's not a personal agenda to see him on staff), but consider whether the tone and style of your various comments are coherent. Spinning stuff one way or the other is the source of the polarity, to be quite literal and figurative.

Ahem, love me some Mister, too, but looking forward to what Forbes will do with a likely non-Mister staff and non-Good roster. Make no mistake, it won't be a Good roster, but it will be a GREAT roster under passionate coaches, we can all be sure at this moment in budding history!

When did this become a creative writing forum? If Wofford and Chattanooga are looking at Good, surely he's on the Buc's radar.
