Statesboro's gotten too dang big.

It'll be nice if Publix ever comes back to Statesboro.

I wish grocery chains would build the same quality store in the city that they build out in the middle of nowhere. There is a Kroger on the way to Helen that is like no Kroger I have ever been to.

Yeah they did. It happened before my time (2001-2005) down there but Statesboro once had a Publix.

If Publix returned to Statesboro there would be a parade.

IMO what Statesboro needs is a Publix that just has the bakery, deli, and seafood center if that's even possible. College students have a lot of the buying power and are just not going to buy their cereal and hot pockets and frozen pizza at a Publix when they can get it at Wal Mart for cheaper.

They do...it just doesn't stay nice very long in the city.

There definitely is a difference, whatever the reason. Every time I go to a grocery store when I'm on vacation, I'm blown away by how much nicer they are than a typical store. Prime examples are the Winn-Dixie on St. Simons, and I think an Ingle's I went to right outside of Blue Ridge, GA, even the Wal Mart near Lake Sinclair in Milledgeville seems nicer than most.

I lived in ozark for 20 years. Not much has changed. A lot of old money keeping business in house, stalling economic development.

Krazo is pretty much the town that time forgot. They have not reaped the benefits from Fort Rucker like Enterprise.

I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.

You're doing the internet wrong. Everyone in the thread is taking "shots" of sorts at their own college towns. Statesboro has a whole 10,000 more people than Troy.

It had to be pre-1998 as there were two Food Lions (I proudly served as produce/perishible manager at one 03-drunk ) and a Winn Dixie.

There are some nice ones in the city. This one is different. Roughly the size of a Super Wal Mart and had a furniture section. Food staples inside were more like Publix and or Whole Foods. I almost went outside to make read the sign again.

Caroline Street Kroger is an island between Murder Kroger and Ghetto Kroger.

Woah I was one of those GS students. I was just poking fun at The grandeur of it all but I love Statesboro and everyone in it. I don't know of any GS fan that doesn't like Statesboro. It's the perfect college town

Believe me I have heard my fair share of ragging on Statesboro and the "Locals" from my time living there and attending classes. My post was mainly aimed towards that you just happened to get in the cross-hares, sorry, lol.

I went to that Bucc-ee's and another massive one that size near Houston while in the great state of Texas for work in January. Those are impressive places!
