TAMU Baseball-- Some Scary Tidbits
No comprehensive preview for tomorrow night's game in College Station, but there's a reason the Aggies are where they are...

- 30 - 2 (21-2 home, 12-2 Top 50, #4 RPI, #1 ISR, but only #150 SoS)

- Offense: .320/.415/.483, with 36 HRs, and averaging 7.8 runs per game.
-- 7 regulars hitting over .300 led by Nick Banks (.431/.489/.595, 3 HRs, 8 doubles/triples, 22 RBIs, 5-6 SBs
-- 8 regulars with 20+ RBIs
-- 9 regulars with 3+ HRs
-- They've received more free passes than times struck out (188 vs. 183)

- Defense: .970 fielding percentage
-- Starting catcher has thrown out 45% of attempted basestealers
-- Only 3 passed balls and 18 wild pitches

- Pitching: 2.08 ERA, .233 BAA, 1.23 WHIP, 3.5 K:BB ratio, 8.8 Ks/game
-- Likely midweek starter is not only a southpaw, but AJ Minter's stats are insane: 4 starts, 21.0 IP, 0.43 ERA, .213 BAA, 8 BBs, 29 Ks
-- Staff is averaging under 3 BBs per game
-- 6 relievers (3 left-handed) with 9+ outings, ERAs < 2.40; 5 with ERAs < 1.70.

Those are some scary across-the-board numbers for offense, defense and pitching.

Just FYI, Minter is out for the season with TJ. I think we get Brigham Hill or Turner Larkins, but their staff is very well rested (like TCU) after having only played two 7 inning games on Saturday due to weather.

Yeah, I think Fr RHP Larkins, who has been their weekend starter, gets the start since he hasn't pitched in over a week, though I suspect Childress will go with "all staff", giving Larkin and all his top relievers 2 - 3 innings of work each, as they do have Miss St. upcoming this weekend.

Larkins: 8 starts, 4-1, 37.2 IP, 3.11 ERA, .268 BAA, 8 BBs, 37 Ks

Larkins started last Tuesday giving up two runs on six hits, five strikeouts, and two walks in four innings.

nice record for the Aggies, but they've beaten up on a bunch of nobodies to date. They took a mid-week game from Dallas Baptist (currently ranked 21 in D1Baseball) and two home games vs #21 Missouri. That's it for currently ranked opponents. There's still some "prove it to me" left to do for them...

SEC West appears down this year and A&M hasn't yet played the two good teams -- LSU and MSU

On the Aggie site it says the game is on SEC+

Does anyone know how this works?

Quote:SEC Network + provides hundreds of additional digital only events to fans through the WatchESPN app on smartphones, computers, and tablets, Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. SEC Network + is not a television channel.

May be the same as ESPN.go.com -- it shows up as an upcoming event.

They play in the SEC. Nuff said.

Here's the Aggie game notes...

RHP Turner Larkins will, in fact, be starting for the Aggies, who have won 14 consecutive midweek games.

It works the same way as WatchESPN/ESPN3, but it's available on fewer providers:

SEC Network subscribers of AT&T U-verse, Charter, Comcast, Cox, DIRECTV, DISH, Google Fiber, Suddenlink, and members of the NCTC, NRTC and NTTC have authenticated access to SEC Network +.
