Exactly, the african-american community can only blame itself for why that word still exist.

I am an African American and I hate that word with a passion, no matter what race is saying it. But for you to make a comment like that is just very ignorant. Do you really think that if every black person were to stop saying it that it was merely disappear? To have the nerve and say the we can only blame ourself shows that you really live in a bubble or under a rock. You have more non African American saying it now more than ever. Did you even stop to think that maybe if everybody would stop saying it then the word may stop to exist. The Kentucky player should punished swiftly and harsh for saying that. Whether he will is up to Kentucky. But don't you dare blame the reason for that word still existing on us.

This. I was ready to give a 1000 word rebuttal but you covered it nicely. That was one of the most ignorant responses I have ever read on this board.

He did over state his point but don't over look the fact that white people saying more is also a direct reflection on the music they are listening to and the fact black people use it so often...

most of those white people using the word today is in the same context as black people. Notice I said most...not all

But if you take it out of the music and as a common word used about as often as brother (and this is the word being replaced) was in the 70s and 80s by black people I think you then start to see it disappear. Other than the true racist.

But we cannot have double standards for "words" they either mean something or they don't. Either way we are now living in such a PC world where stupidity is being punished more harshly than some crimes. Make no mistake about it...in most of these cases it's stupidity and not really the evil people are so quick to see and judge.

My apologies, prevalent is more of the word I'm looking for versus exist. A word that is based out of hate and vitirol has seemingly been embraced by many (not all) in the african american culture. If an action or thought is detrimental to someone it should cease.

Please feel free to PM if you wish discuss further.

I think most of you have really gotten off on another highway regarding the comment made by the UK player. Fact is he was wrong and he apologize, Kiminsky accepted and has moved on.

As to what the kid said and why he said it, well we all have our opinions. But I don't think this is the thread or the board to be discussing it on.

Matter of fact, this wasn't even the topic of the thread nor did it have anything to do with UK fans trying to burn down Lexington, KY on Saturday Night.

But had the roles been reversed would we have moved on?? I highly doubt that. I don't like the word either but there does seem to be a double standard here.
