WHAT ABOUT IRAN AND VENEZUELA MISSILE AGREEMENT
Now that Obama and Kerry have achieved their legacy by creating some sort of framework to allow Iran to get a nuclear weapon, it occurs to me that
this would be a good time to stop and remember some recent history: Recall that in 2010 Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad signed an agreement to allow Iran to build ICBM bases in Venezuela, to be manned by Iranian military. In the agreement, Venezuela also committed itself to "fire on" Iran's enemies in the region if Iran were attacked by Israel or the U.S.

In 2011 German and Israeli newspapers reported that the missile bases were
in fact being built on the north coast of Venezuela by Iranian construction
companies and overseen by the Al-Quds (Iranian Revolutionary Guards); and
that the missiles to be placed there would be capable of reaching the
southern U.S. The story sort of dropped out of sight after that with the
death of Chavez in 2013. Interestingly, Iran blamed Chavez's death
(prostate cancer for over 2 years) on the CIA.

Now, just three days ago, the topic resurfaced. On Mar. 30, 2015, an outfit
called "The Center for Security Policy" published an article alleging that
while the world's attention is focused on U.S-Iran nuclear talks, Iran has
been surreptitiously outsourcing its nuclear program to rogue nations.
Though the article primarily identifies Syria and North Korea, it also goes
to some length to discuss Venezuela as a probable site for Iran's terrorist
exports, stating in part:

" With suspicion that Tehran has moved their nuclear program out of the
country to meet the criteria of a nuclear deal with the United States, one
could argue that Venezuela would be an ideal location to do so. Anti-American, corrupt, and lacking American intelligence assets,
Venezuela has become prime location for Tehran's strategic plans ."

The Center for Security Policy is apparently a legitimate organization,
headed by Frank Gaffney, who beginning in 1981 was on the staff of the
Senate Armed Forces Committee, and then became Deputy Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Forces and Arms Control Policy. In 1987, President Reagan nominated him to be Assistant Secretary of Defense for International
Security Policy, where he represented the U.S.in key U.S. Soviet negotiations.

Just a little too coincidental, or am I just being paranoid? Remember the
Cuban missile crisis?

Venezuela has no nuclear weapons. Nor can they do squat against the US. So Iran built some concrete bunkers. What is Venezuela going to do with those 'missle sites'? Nothing. Gaffney is a nut too.

Maybe not tomorrow, but in 15 years, they could ship the missiles and war heads. Are you trying to condemn President George P. Bush into a Venezualean missile crisis?

Put them at the bottom of the drink as they are loaded. That's not material that one can ship on a Group III merchant.

Iran may not fall within 15 years, but Venezuela sure as hell will.

This.

I lived there for 2 years. Venezuela is broke. Maduro's approval rating is somewhere around 10 percent. Inflation this year will be around 100 percent.

Venezuela has, at most 30 months left before a total and complete collapse. Probably less than that.

The legacy of socialist left wing revolutionary Hugo Chavez, what a nightmare.

It's going to get ugly as well. Maduro knows he's done, so to keep that from occurring, he's already clamping down on opposition, etc. He's going to be like a cornered snake striking out before the shovel arrives.
