Yep, your 50 years older, have half our endowment, arent close to our research dollars and are ranked well below us academically. Tell me all about your schools history. :)

We may not have you in sports, since we are 40+ years younger but I like to point out where we do spank that ass!

(and before it gets into a pissing match, this is meant to be a light ribbing kind of joke)

Oh I can dish it out so I can take it. Lol

State of North Carolina (Population of almost 10 Million) has 17 Public Universities.

State of Florida (Population of almost 20 Million) has 12 Public Universities.

Even though some students from FLA go out-of-state for college and/or attend some of the few private colleges in FLA, a majority still end up at one of the 12 Public Universities...with some located in large metro areas which (i.e. Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Boca, etc...), which helps keep the cost for many parents down.

Thx. I didn't know there were that few public I'd in Florida.

Most public univ in the US were founded in the 1800's or early 1900's...and FLA's population back then was much at all...and really didn't boom till the beginning of the 50's/60's, back when USF (1956), FAU (1961), UCF (1963), FIU (1965) were founded.

Wait, wait wait...Did a USF fan just say he thinks UCF looks like a shopping mall? Choose your battles man, I know I've never met someone who's said a nice thing about USF's campus. That includes the 3 relatives of mine who went there, and every UF, FSU, or UM fan I've ever talked about it with. That USF is the ugliest major college in the state is like saying UF has the highest entrance requirements.

Still don't know why a school located in Tampa is named South Florida.

Because the State legislature in the 1950s had no plans to develop anything south of tampa and orlando. As far as they were concerend it was swamp land and the University of Miami could just take care of the people who were south.
So they named the School USF to signify that we were the southern point... also, there was already a private school named University of Tampa in existance.

Ever been to the Air Force Academy? Very spacious campus with a gorgeous mountain backdrop, but the architecture is early-1960s Holiday Inn.

HA! Now here is where Ill agree with UCF fans. Florida schools are stacked with beautiful women. I spent 7 years at USF and I lived for 2 years less then 1/4 of a mile away from the UCF campus. I can tell you both are stacked with hotties. You cant throw a rock without hitting one...

though, sadly... when I went to California I swear that place makes our 10s look like 8s. Its ridiculous. There are more fine women at USC then any campus Ive ever stepped foot on.

Then theres also the USF botanical gardens.... I think those are enough photos to prove our campus isnt the 1950s military base that it started out as.

If I may, my thought process while looking at those pictures -

Picture 1 - Eh, that's nice. Just an entrance and a sign, but the palm trees are nice and welcoming.

Picture 2 - Cool looking building, definitely new and different than the other buildings on campus. I wonder if this list will end up being of of those 'show only one new, nice building and act as if it's indicative of the entire campus' lists? I sure hope there are more like it because if this is their one shining gem, not looking good.

Picture 3 - I mean, it's not awful, but not exactly picture worthy. I liked it better when I saw it in picture 1 from the other angle, looked classy when that was the only sign.

Picture 4 - Cool wooded area, I remember that from when i visited an ex who lived there. I did like that place.

Picture 5 - Aaaaaaand there's the picture of what the rest of the campus looks like. Womp-wooooooomp.

It's nothing personal, and I'm sure it's improved, but it's just got a long way to go. Maybe it's not Texas A&M ugly, but it's not UF/UCF/FSU/UM pretty. Not by a long shot.

As you can see, our campus has tons of nice new facilities and isnt at all like your family members described. I like that we have trees, pavillions, and rest places. To me it feels more like a campus.
UCF has more of an open mall concept. Different tastes.

It makes sense within historical context, which is what the legislature used to designate us... and its not like your exactly central. Youre much further east and also north. Id say your more central-Ish.
Being 35 miles from one coast and 90 from the other (as a crow flies) is definitely more ish then truly central.

But at this point, were both being petty.

Do you have UCF picture in your room that you spend 20 minutes a day hating? At this point you sound more akin to Harvey Updyke.

USF is literally hundreds of miles away from anything that can be considered 'south' florida and you're arguing that we're slightly too east to be considered the direct center of the state? I think you might need to reformulate your argument because it's the opposite of compelling.
