Maui - 7 sacred pools
Oʻahu - spend some time on the North Shore, go to a 'sugar shack' for a drink
Sit in the sun and enjoy the sights!

RE: OT: Hawaii
If you have time to get there, I actually like the big island better than oahu.
Volcanoes national park really is incredible and leave yourself time to hike up and down some craters. There is also a small black sand beach about a 10 minute drive from Hilo. Also, Maybe 45 minutes from the hotels in Hilo, there was a natural pool heated by lava rock that we could swim.
In Oahu, there is of course diamond head (great views) and obviously the pearl harbor memorial. If you like sushi, Sansei (1/2 mile or so down the beach from Waikiki) is among the best I have ever had. For snorkeling, Hanauma Bay is really easy to get to, but they close everything for one day per week to clean the beaches so double check before going.
In Oahu, Do NOT swim at Sandy Beach (20 min drive from waikiki). Even though the waves are small, they are unbelievably powerful and there is often a strong undertow. I am a more than competent ocean swimmer, but I broke 2 small bones and was then told that most people who get injuries there don't walk away from them.
Waikiki is fine to swim for all ages, just double check the days the box jellyfish will be there (these are simply the kind that will hurt, not the dangerous kind they have in Australia).
I haven't been to Kauai, but I hear that the tubing inside the caves is awesome.
As HMK said, I have heard that driving the road to Hana in Maui is amazing. Even if you only go to Oahu, I would suggest spending a day just driving around the island.

I would recommend getting over to Lanikai Beach too, certainly a nice place to go visit. Also, time permitting, take a couple hikes if you can. There are some really great trails all over Oahu, I really liked Kuliouou Ridge Trail, that will leave you with some great views at the top. AllTrails is a useful app to download if you're looking for somewhere to hike.

Get some musubi. Go to Hanauma Bay. Visit the royal palace. Go to China Town. Try poi. Go on a hike. Go swimming at the pools at the Hilton in Waikiki. There are so many options, you can't really go wrong.
I grew up in Honolulu and will be envious of you for the remainder of the week. Enjoy yourself.

RE: OT: Hawaii
Check out Punchbowl, the national cemetary of the Pacific. It's a national military cemetary, but also specifically dedicated to World War 2 in the Pacific. It's located in a ancient volcano caldera on the east side. The views are stunning, and the setting is sobering yet beautiful. Any cabdriver will know it by the name "punchbowl", and there are buses that go there if you aren't driving.
Take a walk on the sand in Waikiki. There's a reason it's so famous; you can stroll up to any number of beachside bars and look out over the surfers and up to Diamond Head.
Try some Hawaiian food, which basically means spam (if you aren't in to poi or poke). Hawaiian mcdonalds serve it with eggs and rice for breakfast. Or you can get any number of varieties of musubi, with spam or otherwise, which is basically like a larger piece of sushi (without the fish). Or try plate lunch (usually teriyaki beef or chicken, rice, and mac salad). Or go to Sam Choy's.

RE: OT: Hawaii
I second the previous suggestion: For a great freebie go up to the "Punchbowl" also known as the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific and up to the Overlook and get a wonderful view of Waikiki, Diamond Head and the Pacific. The panoramic view is stunning. Then visit the ABMC Memorial, walk up the same steps as Jack Lord did in the opening shots of Hawaii 5-O, quietly humming the theme. Then take in some WWII history at the Memorial, lots of stuff there.
If you want some more info on that PM me; or if you are batching it, PM me.

Not a local, but my advice is to splurge on whatever strikes you.
We went for our honeymoon, swore we would be back for 1st wedding anniversary. Well, our 10th wedding anniversary is this month and we still haven't been back. Life gets in the way. You never know how long it's going to be before you get to go there again, so live it up!
If you are there for long enough, go see the Arizona memorial (my grandfather was a Pearl Harbor Survivor, so I am a little biased :) )
