UB will decline also. Oats kept the team together but on the bench he is no Hurley. One doesn't lose a bench coach like Hurley, and get a two year D-I assistant coach, and not feel it.

Hard to say, the best player isn't always the best leader...

My comment was based on the fact that Lee's improvement this year was due to his improved focus and hard work over last year. We will see if that continues.

EDIT: Nevermind. Buffalo is blocking him from transferring to ASU, along with VCU and Old Dominion (he's from Virginia). Such garbage.

This one will get interested. He could go higher such as Va Tech. It has been happening in recent years.

We're now seeing kids transfer both down but also up. E.g., do well at CLE State and get offered by L'ville as a graduate eligible. Not to mention Forbes who went from CSU to MSU.

His home town is 25 miles from ODU.

Several reporters on twitter that spoke to Evans. I just searched his name on there. Pretty awful that they would block him from going to schools around where he is from.

Saw that but a very low achiever at BG. D-II bound?

I looked at his stats over two years and he won't have a D-I offer unless there were circumstances such as injuries.

I might add I looed at Leo Edwards' stats (when he announced) and he was like 5 minutes / game and 1 ppg. Those aren't very good for a player if he wishes to transfer at the MAC level.

This is how we potentially got screwed on a transfer deal:

We offered Isaiah Maurice (we all know that) and he was uncommitted with no favorite.

Then Kansas State dismisses a PF and schedules a visit and gets a commit from Maurice.

Then Eric Cobb (a 2015 PF verbal from Baltimore) de-commits from K. State, but look who is recruiting him:

"RT @MarcusHelton: Seton Hall, South Carolina and VCU offered 2015 St. Frances (MD) PF Eric Cobb - a former Kansas State commit - today. "

We drew short straws on this one... We lost a potential PF and the player who de-committed is going 'higher' than the MAC.

BG continues to lose players.

My prediction is that the MAC will be DOWN next season. Too many team taking big hits (e.g., UB, BGSU, UT, etc.).

Perhaps, but others like CMU and Akron could potentially be even stronger than they were last season. Buffalo will still be very good with Moss, Bearden, and Skeete, but I agree that losing Hurley and Evans is pretty tough.

BGSU and Toledo should take a step (or two) back, same with KSU potentially. NIU might take a step forward, same with Miami. But if ever there was a good year for us to make a leap into the top 4, it would be this coming season. Obviously that's easier said than done and we have no idea what our new recruits bring to the table, but our returning core should be pretty competitive again.

They get Denny back, who averaged almost 10 a game, unless he transferred as well. Scrappy defensive player too.

But yeah, they are losing wayyyyyyyy too much to be a contender next year.

Edit: apparently he is transferring. I'm surprised there wasn't more of an announcement about that. He's a pretty good player.

I see the MAC East trending downwards, but with the exception of Ball State I don't see how it gets easier for us in the MAC West next year. Of course we struggled with Ball State this past year too.

Toledo loses their three best players, one of whom was arguably the best player in the MAC over the last four years. Forgive me if I don't share your fear of them now that Juice, Drummond, and Weatherspoon are gone. NIU returns a nice core (minus Threloff, who always seemed to do well against us), but I'll believe that they'll give us trouble when I see it. Murphy has completely owned Monty so far.

You always put wayyyy too much stock into a recruiting class in year one. Some freshmen come in and have huge impacts. Some look lost. You literally cannot predict it one way or the other. I think CMU is the only team I could say is inarguably better than us in the west going into the season. Every other team has plenty of questions to answer, including us.

We shall see Sam. You have predicted we should return to the top 4 with this recruiting class and our returnees. Hm who puts too much emphasis on incoming recruiting classes especially ours? I'm not completely sold. Maybe if we get a decent center who can walk and chew gum a the same time I'll end up agreeing with you. WMU will also be a threat. Even after losing Brown they have enough decent returnees and recruits coming in to give us a run.

On the transfer front I looked over the verbalcommit transfer list its look like those centers with immediate availability will definitely be a one and done deal. There's Anderson 6'9 out of Fresno St who would have a couple of years left.

Considering that we end up going back to the JUCOs for the center position although I agree with Steve who is the question?
