RE: O'Field going juco
Widespread belief is that O'Field did not qualify academically, again, furthermore that he wants to play major basketball after Juco. Or, to put it in an opinionated nutshell, ETSU wasn't good enough to motivate the young man to do the needed things.

And the same with his high school.. he had offers from several major schools and could not qualify.. sometimes a young person has to find it within himself to do it for himself.. that's why I hope he gets it together at the Juco level next two years.. because it could be his last chance..
Unless he can find a school that doesn't care about the rules...........
I hear there are still some out there...

RE: O'Field going juco
We can still be bitter if we want (can't we?) but O'Field has found two things in Buffalo he won't find in JC anytime soon:
"JucoRecruiting.com caught up with O’Field and discussed the commitment. When asked why he chose Buffalo, O’Field said, 'I was really impressed with the system that Coach Hurley runs and could see myself fitting in to that style of play. I feel like I could step in and compete right away. I wanted to go to a winning program and they have done that at Buffalo.'
O’Field was also very impressed with the skill development side of things as well. He said, 'I was extremely impressed with their guard workouts and skill development. I feel that with three years in this program, I could end up being a player that I never dreamed of being.' "
O'Field might have stayed with ETSU and become another undersized power forward, developed his true game no further, and suffered the indignities of a failing program. I hope in Buffalo he's found the academic motivation he really needed. The young man clearly has his eyes on professional play, but should take the opportunity to benefit immediately from an education.
ETSU needs to right the ship, start keeping risky but promising talent like O'Field, and start attracting more of the right all around student-athletes every program needs. My bitterness goes only to the head coach at this point.

I am surprised at Moe's decision. I thought he would go to a major program. Nevertheless, I am very happy for him and wish him well.

It's a pipe dream, but I sure would love to get Moe back.

Never will happen, but if we get in a solid coach we'll have Moe level talent rolling through perennially.
In Noland we trust.

I still wish the kid well.
However I do hope he finds a home and actually plays D1 ball soon.
