But I don't think we will be overmatched by anyone on our schedule -- just comes down to execution. I am excited to see what kind of numbers Gunner Kiel can put up if he stays healthy. I think Cincinnati will be a high-octane, explosive offense that is a lot of fun to watch. And I think being back in Nippert could propel a special season. I think we have as good of a chance as anyone to win the AAC and make the G5 bowl.

In basketball, we return everyone except one of our role players, Jermaine Sanders. Sanders was one of my favorite players, but I think the trio of Justin Jenifer, Jacob Evans, and Tre Scott will more than make up for his absence. Caupain, Ellis, and Clark will be all-conference caliber players. We have a great non-conference schedule, but there's not a single team on our schedule I don't believe we can beat. Anything less than an AAC championship, top 4 seed, and Sweet 16 run will be a disappointment. If we can play a little more up-tempo and our team gels, I think we are a dark horse Final Four team.

Basically, I am geeked about next year. I think it could be our year to make a New Year's bowl AND a deep tournament run.

All of this. 2015-2016 has a chance to be a banner year for UC athletics.

Even as a non-homer, it's hard not to be excited and see the potential for next year.

Basketball: we had 0 seniors, so next year is NCAA or bust for sure.
Football: We should be a lot of fun to watch. Our defense is a huge question mark, but I think we will get to 6 wins and a bowl.

Justin Fuente's football Tigers look to be solid this season...and the Lawson's, along with Nichols and Goodwin, give me great hope/optimism for hoops.

AmericanRx: Football AAC-vs-ACC 2015

I can't speak about the ACC as a whole or some of the relationships that other AAC teams have, but VT's scheduling has been really impressive to me. They don't seem to look down their nose at other programs because of conference affiliation or anything like that. They play a lot of good teams that other schools would never play on the road.

Football can't be worse than last year. I'll call that optimism.

In football, we are returning everyone from the offensive side of the ball, so we'll but up some numbers and will be fun to watch.

In basketball, we have pre Captain America Steve Rogers as our coach....enough said

Football season should be fun. I have no hope for basketball being nothing but a middle of the AAC pack, NCAA/ NIT bubble team until a change is made at head coach. Its going to get worse before it gets any better until Pastner is out.

Pastner's Tigers were fun to watch from 2011-2014. Four straight NCAA tourneys, 106 wins (26.5 Ws per season), kids like Wlll Barton, Joe Jackson, and Austin Nichols...I think next years team can get back to that level.

I'd like to see my football Tigers make a bowl, and my basketball Tigers to return to the NCAA tournament.

Memphis football also features home football games with Mississippi, Cincinnati, and Navy...coming off last seasons success, I expect attendance to go up a good bit. (Memphis averaged 34k last season)

RE: What reasons do you have to be optimistic about your next athletic year?
I'm quite optimistic about football for the 2015 TIGERS. As was mentioned earlier, almost the entire offense returns except 1 starting WR and starting right OT. The OT spot will be handled by a Louisville senior transfer who started 2 years for the Cards. The other top 9 OL lettermen return, so MEMPHIS is two deep there.

QB Lynch returns for his junior season but word is one of the 2 QB recruits (Davis) is pretty good and could push him in summer camp. Depth is a good thing.

MEMPHIS returns 3 RBs (Dorceus, Cooper, & Craft), picked up a transfer from Clemson, and recruited the top rated RBs out of Mississippi and Alabama (2nd team HS All American). So the team is fairly loaded in the backfield...so much so there is discussion of moving RB Cooper (big bruiser) over to LB. Cooper was all conference LB in HS.

There is considerable depth at WR as well, with two redshirts from last year now eligible. Both top TEs return. Oh, and our junior kicker (Elliot) might be the best college kicker in the country.

Defense only returns 3 starters but several backups played quite a bit last year. But still, losing 8 seniors and the DC is tough. So the first half of the season will be a learning period.

Schedule is good. Three toughest games on paper are Cincinnati (home 9/24 on Thursday Night ESPN), Ole Miss (home 10/17), and a road game at Houston (11/14). The Bearcat game might be an offensive extravaganza.

Basketball. Hmmmm, let's hope the TIGERS rebound from this past season. I think the entire Milky Way is aware Pastner will be on a hot seat from the jump next year.

Baseball. Team looks good right now and hosts Houston this weekend. Unsure how many of the players return next year.
