Sign of the times.

Why not add women's lacrosse and not have to deal with the TItle 9 issue. There are many more women's lacrosse programs anyway. Not only that the Ohio High School Athletic Association does not even sanction or have a state tourney for Lacrosse.

Since many Lacrosse players come from affluent backgrounds, make Lacrosse raise the $ needed to fund that sport, why should an established sport have to now raise it's own support especially when many more Ohio HS students wrestle than play Lacrosse.

The MAC will eventually have to adjust to the sports that high schools offer.

This makes zero sense. Lacrosse is a much larger Title IX & budget strain than wrestling.

Wrestling has a 9.9 scholarship limit. Lacrosse is 12.6. That's almost a non-factor as far as Title IX goes. I'm not sure how it's that much more of a budget strain, either.

One factor is that Lacrosse caters to a more affluent demographic. CSU wants to attract that demographic. Makes sense.

I love that euphemism for "whiter and more suburban."

3 additional scholarships, increased equipment costs, increased travel costs (how many additional players make the travel squad in lacrosse?), additional field space for an urban school. It just seems to me like it will cost more money to start & run a lacrosse program, than continuing the wrestling program. Not only that, but I highly doubt they're going to make the kind of financial commitment required to be successful. Seems pointless to me!

As a university, CSU has a long history of fumbling and bumbling as regards athletics.

That's two years in a row that Andrassy has bumbled in his role, and Kent State has fumbled getting rid of him.
