Miami takes a 1-0 lead on Providence in 1st period of NCAA Men's Hockey Playoffs!
Would be great to see a MAC program in the Frozen 4, too bad the Tigers couldn't earn a Wrestling title for the MAC despite finishing the regular season in 1st place.

Miami got off to a good start, but looked like crap for most of the rest of the. Love the out of the box thinking by Rico, pulling his goalie down 6-2 with 12:30 to play in the game. Eventually got the game to 6-5, before PC scored an EN goal with 6 secs to play.

This whole pulling the goalie early thing has been interesting lately. Much of the credit for this 'new' idea has been given to Patrick Roy. And while yes, he did start pulling his goalie earlier than anyone had really done in the NHL before, I actually first saw this happen way back in the 1980's.
Lake Superior State had a coach named Frank Anzalone. He was quite a character. He use to pull the goalie with like 10 minutes left in the third if they were way behind. But Frank was pretty stubborn...on a few occasions, he left the goalie out even after the other team still scored a couple goals.

Some highlights of our almost comeback...
We have no one to blame but ourselves for the loss, but it's still BS that we were put in that position in the first place. What's even more infuriating is that we would've played Denver on Sunday (we beat them 6-3 the weekend before during the NCHC tourney) and would've had a good chance of beating them with us getting Blake Coleman back, then we would've had a dream matchup with Nebraska-Omaha in the Frozen Four.
