RE: Concern
Phillips had exceptional giddy up after the catch. Not sure Billingsly or Henry can replace that in the slot.

Billingslea may not have the top end speed that Phillips has, but from what I saw on tape, he does have exceptional quickness, able to get in and out of cuts really fast. The whole reason Western offered him was nobody could guard him one on one in camps.

I do think this gives Lavante Bellamy a shot at early playing time, as well as Anton Curtis.

^What he said.

Billingslea's route running (cuts and separation) are top notch. He's going to be a good one for us if he can crack into the lineup.

He's tiny. Can't run great routes if you can't get off the block.

RE: Concern
My attempt at humor in post #1 was about his obvious drive and dedication, his age, and the relative difference in importance between being POTUS and a football coach. And at first look is mildly funny. (I think) After thinking about it for a bit, however, I'm starting to wonder if it really has any legs as a joke in the first place. Obviously, for example, in Alabama anyone who is asked which is the more important job would say football coach.

So I guess when Pj gets fired by WMU he can consider getting out of coaching and taking the lesser job of POTUS and the accompaning pay cut. Although if that does happen I believe he will not be any less driven or dedicated to his goals.

Now my thoughts took me to his beginning months in Kalamazoo and the resistance to him that existed in those times. Could it be an age thing? I remember a young boxer that came on the scene in 1960. After he won his Gold medal he revealed his true persona. His outrageous braggadocio enraged the establishment and captivated the youth. But after he started to prove himself the doubters started giving him credit. Now Fleck certainly has not won a belt yet but everyone knows it's coming. What has started to change already is people who were once turned off by this loud and boisterous unknown young man are starting to find out he has something to say.

Bernard Reedy (Toledo) and Jamill Smith (Ball St.) had nice careers in the MAC. Both were "tiny". Heck, neither was much smaller than Daniel Braverman's size. In general, you aren't going to face many guys in the MAC that are going to knock you out off the block. Not to mention with our offense a lot of the catches Braverman and speed guys are getting are out of the backfield, or coming off screens and blocks.
