Hustlebelt EMU Preview - Yes waaay too early
Alex A. gives us a preview:

I actually like the fact that for better or worse the season will be make or break by the end of September. Need to finish 2-2 to keep expectations going. 3-1 or 4-0 is realistic if all can come together. Old Dominion and Wyoming will be down from last year, and I'm hoping the run defense can hold Army (or we outscore them....).

We need to take advantage of the schedule and beat Ball State at home. I think they are a team in transition - hoping they struggle a bit to start the season.

Two things need to happen 1) improved defense, especially stopping big plays. 2) Let's settle on a QB and get the offense established based on his strengths. Its certain we'll have more stability at the receiver spot - hope a TE emerges from the group we got.

Is it September yet??

I agree with your 'two things.' Defense MUST learn to keep contain. How many times in the past two seasons have we seen a simple HB Dive play, or something similar, bust out for a long score? I'd have to imagine McCaslin has the defense working hard on the run defense. Our front 7 have a chance to be pretty decent this year, especially with the return of Ike Spearman. Let's hope it shows.

And I'd like to think Creighton and DeBoer learned the importance of settling on a QB earlier. Hopefully coming out of the gates against ODU, we've got a clear starter.

Extremely early but the prediction sounds about right.
