Sounds like the end of last season.

We'll be fine. I still expect us to win out, mostly because, as everyone saw, even on a bad night for RJ, we still win games.

How does it sound like last season? I thought the only big piece y'all lost last year was Adkins?

Also you guys were not as dominant in league play this year as y'all were last year. And y'all will be losing even more. Only 7 guys who averaged double digit minutes this year and 4 will be gone. Those 4 accounted for just over 65% of your scoring.

Show me justifiable evidence that you guys will "win out."

RE: RJ Hunter to NBA
I don't forsee a cakewalk, but I like what we bring back. It took Crider a while to find himself but he settled in nicely towards the end of the season as a third scoring option. Can he make the move to second or even the main scorer will be the question. Ware started to find his groove but I don't see a dominant scorer. sessions and dennison (filled in when harrow went down) both had moments where they shined. Shipes was effective in his role though I think the rebounding issue has to be fixed. Thomas, Williams and Howell will presumably slide into Hunter and harrows roles. While I don't think they will match there production I think they both will be solid. Got three scholarships and will probally grab a Pg, and a big man. And another wing scorer. To go along with Benlevi who we already signed. The cupboard isn't bare by any stretch. Like I said it won't be a cakewalk but I like our chances depending on if guys gel. Hunter had a crappy game against Baylor except for the final four minutes. While they aren't world beaters the team stuck with those guys without arguably our two best players. I would place ULM 1st. Then it's a tie for second and third between us and ULL. ( all dependent on Long have heard about him staying or going) The rest of the league could move up and down.

Most reasonable assessment I've seen from a Georgia State fan. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Just doesn't seem smart to say you'll easily win the league with a group of guys who have never played together before. Sure the unknowns have talent, but you won't see if they will gel into the system until game time next year. Seems too big of an unknown to base any sort of assumption of league dominance next year.

And regarding Long, he sent a request for evaluation to the NBA to see where he may land in the draft. I think if it's in the first, he'll be gone. Remember he is a redshirt junior, so he'd be a pretty old rookie in the league. Waiting another year, would make him very old for a rookie. I don't think he's a first rounder, so my thinking is he will stay.

No joke. You were 1-1 during the regular season against a team that was left for dead for basketball season and won the SB tourney on the last two possessions. You are losing your two best players one is a possible first round pick. With RJ gone it might not be the only Hunter that is leaving. Even your own alumni radio host Matt Chernoff in ATL said he probably deserves a better job yesterday. If RJ stayed I would say you were by far the favorite but lets see what you have and who is coaching at tip off later this year.

I still find it intriguing you completely buy into coach speak when it comes to a coach liking their job and where they are coaching.

I am not saying he will leave, but to think he wouldn't entertain other offers is naïve.

If he does stay, i think that is very telling. Meaning, there must not have been any offers that are much better than what he has now..........

Regular season doesn't carry the Belt banner in the NCAA which is all that really matters.

That's not what it means. Look, find any of his interviews from his first season. Then look at his resume. Except for one season as an asst. back at his Alma Mater he has spent the last quarter century in downtown Milwaukee, downtown Indianapolis and downtown Atlanta. He himself said that that is where is comfortable. and that he wouldn't know what to do on a tradition rolling hills campus. There are jobs he would leave for I think. But it aint Tennessee or Bama or Texas. Now if Pastner left Memphis I would be sweating bullets as I would be if Temple or Cincy had open positions. Right now he realizes, especially after the last 2 weeks, that he can continue to build this here, retire, get a building named after him and get paid to work at Turner as a highly paid analyst all in the same city. He is getting everything he wants right now and the President and AD have big designs for this school and this athletic program.

You don't have to be a fan of a program that is good at a certain sport to understand how the sport is played and measured, as a GA St. fan you know this better than anyone.

RE: RJ Hunter to NBA
Ron Hunter won't leave for another mid-major job, but he will leave for a chance on a bigger stage. That's why he came to Georgia State. That being said, I don't see a good match for him out there right now, unless a school like Tennessee has to work it's way down the list.
I think a lot of ADs don't believe they can win the press conference with Ron Hunter this year because a lot of casual fans will think the only reason he won was because he had an NBA prospect son on his team. If he can win again next year, I think he'll heat up as a candidate.
