ND fought hard but kind of broke down there at the end. They had a damn good season.

Your boys went until they had nothing left and then they went some more. If anything won that game for Kentucky it was their depth. Notre Dame had the heart but Kentucky had the depth.

I think someone mentioned about the missed free throws. Notre Dame up 5 points with 5:22 to go- in the next 1:37 they went only 2-5 from the line, while Kentucky scored 2 baskets(one a 3 point play). Probably a key to the game.

RE: ND-Kentucky
An awesome game, UK did a lot of things very uncharacteristic in the first half defensively but certainly a ton of credit goes to Coach Brey for formulating the game plan he did - I think the Cats did a great job neutralizing the Irish perimeter but ND was awesome with their spacing. Just a great game, big shot after big shot, especially in the second half. The Twins and Towns were absolutely huge for us, the Irish were really impressive with a team full of guys that can create their own shots - that caused a lot of the issues for UK in the first half, imo

Very good.

Sorry, Terry. I'm just not a fan of the elites. I was born an underdog.

You're located near Carl's Jr, UConn-SMU?

Pick me up a Western Bacon Burger and a Superstar. If it doesn't get all over the place, don't put it in your face.

Kentucky made every field goal attempt they shot in the last 12 minutes of that game. Look at the chart, here. Their last miss of the game was at 12:16 remaining. You think another coach could somehow improve on that?

UK made all of their FG attempts in the last 12 minutes and still only outscored ND by 6 points in that stretch (24-18). UK could have won by 15-20, if they were playing a team that wasn't as good as ND was tonight.

Notre Dame shot 46.6% from the floor and 28.6% from 3-point range. With a 5-point lead late in the game, ND went 2-5 from the FT line at crunch time, allowing UK to erase the margin. How awesome is that? Not very.

The talent disparity was vast but ND came within a whisker of winning, like WVU did to a vastly more talented UK team in 2010.

That's not very good coaching. Awesome recruiting, though. 07-coffee3

Notre Dame went 29 minutes without a turnover. But to beat the nearly perfect team, you have to hit your free throws, Notre Dame didn't hit all of them in crunch time and the NCAA/CBS breaths a sign of relief.

And the vendors, ticket sellers, NCAA and all of the business owners in Indianapolis next weekend. Kentucky was gonna travel anyways, Lord knows they travelled in force to Houston but Indianapolis is right across the state line.

Just imagine if both Kentucky and Louisville made it. Then again, Michigan State really isn't much further away.

Neither is Notre Dame.

Isn't UConn the elite basketball team with all those titles. Kentucky is, obviously.

ND is the non-elite, underdog basketball school out of those three.

No Final Four since Laimbeer and Montana were on campus (mutters an expletive thinking about the 1979 Cotton Bowl). The only thing that would have made that miracle comeback against Pitt feel better is if it was over Notre Dame.

But I digress from the point of this thread. 07-coffee3

Ah, one of my favorite games and one that enters the realm of folklore for ND and Joe Montana.

I was 21 at the time and remember it like yesterday. That said, I do understand how bad it would feel to be on the other side of a game like that one.

I was 14 and remember my dad (huge Irish fan) turning off the TV in disgust in the 3rd quarter. We tuned back in just in time to see the last two Notre Dame scores, LOL.
