Texas
Alabama
UT

that is a whole lot of P5 to compete with...waiting sucks, but seems to be the right call for not just financial reasons but timing ones as well.

Texas is gonna get Greg Marshall
Bama is gonna get a coach we wouldn't have wanted.
UT is gonna get a coach we wouldn't have wanted.

If it were the right coach, we would pay more than either UT or Bama.

Everyone was a nobody until there are not anymore. The key is are you high profile enough to let the lower level schools weed out the Nobodies for you.

Bama and UT have more money and more future security than we do, worth mentioning. P5 > than non-P5 in the new world order.

We're also a better program than both of those schools.

The Texas BB job is a sleeping giant. I would compare it to the Florida FB job before Spurrier took over.

It has all the attributes to be a better program than UConn, Indiana, Arizona, Florida, Wisconsin and many others.

Well, I think I have to agree with you...no way Memphis can compete against UT or Alabama. The Vols are a bit different 'cause they've sucked for so long, we might be able to compete with them. The money in the cartel 5 really outstrips anything....it really is all about football.

Alabama has ZERO basketball tradition. Memphis basketball is a big step up from Bama in basketball.

Memphis is a better job than Tennessee and Alabama and it's arguably better than Texas.

I somewhat disagree because there are plenty of Coaches out there who would be much better than Josh.. One reason and the biggest reason to do it now is because with the team next year a good Coach could really do great things but with Josh it will underachieve.. Also waiting until next year the roster will be totally depleted.. With a new Coach doing well this next season we could get some good recruits in here.. If we underachieve with Josh and fire him then the next Coach is left with nothing!!

Good point...Markel and KJ seem like the most reliable for being the nucleus that year. Maybe Broddie and Dedric make it better...

Talk about a low self esteem. Maybe Texas, but Bama or UT in basketball? Actually I think we trump Texas too. They're a football school.

Get over what? OK we've had bad seasons. So what exactly is your point? We should be happy with THIS bad season?

When you make 2.65 to babysit 19 year olds and they tell you to go F yourself, you have problems way bigger than a "bad season".

Like Easterwood said, we're dysfunctional. I'm telling you its way worse than just a "bad season".

Any year is a good year to replace what we have right now.

This is a good point. I just think that next year we will have more great options for a coach. But you make an excellent point.

Disagree. Not a self esteem issue, just a belief that the idea of a "basketball school" will only be able to exist in a power five conference. The game has changed, ratings and revenue. Football has it, basketball doesn't.

No don't be happy with the season obviously, a change is needed but dead lord, things are not as doom and gloom as you think they are. I'm glad you twisted my words to suit your agenda.
