Forbes and what happened at Tennessee
This was linked in the recruiting thread but I thought I would start another thread for people who might have missed it.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketba...h-upheaval

Is interesting to note that Pearl seems to have stayed close to his 3rd assistant Jones and brought him back at Auburn.

RE: Forbes and what happened at Tennessee
I know this was written in 2011 but it talked about how his daughter lived in Knoxville. I wonder if she still does and maybe that's part of the reason he really wanted the ETSU job.

RE: Forbes and what happened at Tennessee
Thanks for the link. I knew about what happened, but not so much the aftermath, and it was eye-opening. Both of those guys will be better coaches down the road for having gone through all that, and it's a good lesson for other assistants. Great their families have stuck with them, and a credit to them.

Pearl, I'm not so sure he's learned the same lesson.

A "must-read" for anyone that hasn't.

It shows how assistants can get placed in a no win situation by the actions of the head coach. If they "rat out" the head coach they will not be punished by the NCAA but their basketball coaching career is pretty much over, if they try and back the coach the hammer falls on them as well. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Yea, unlike Federal employees who can plead the 5th while the boss stonewalls.

ut has had 4 basketball coaches in 6 years, and I can't count the football coaches and the buyout amounts this fiasco is just more Fuel To The Fire

I don't know, for a $100 million plus budget I'd say that the ut folks certainly haven't enjoyed the Laurel and Hardy show 03-woohoo

Sounds like the big donors are getting fleeced. And, is this UT fiasco the reason there are fewer Big Awrange haters posting on here. Remember the hate that used to flow through here?

RE: Forbes and what happened at Tennessee
Isn't it time that people in TN let the whole Pearl thing go - including all of the fallout. And UT fans in particular should just accept that BP and all of his assistants are never coming back to the Orange. Yes, Never.

Would also be refreshing if people in TN looked elsewhere for scandal-less student-athletes programs to support. Now, that's an unrealistic expectation to put in your pipe and smoke.
