SBnation takes a look at UT football 2015
Hope this hasn't been posted here (the preview's dated March 12th). I don't remember seeing it.

A quote from the preview -

"In one sentence: Toledo is loaded with playmakers but faces questions on the offensive line; can the Rockets overcome and finally win a division title?"

Here's the link.

Excellent article from a number of perspectives----aside from an insightful analysis of the position by position personnel I also like the (recent) historical perspective--"always a bridesmaid" pretty much sums up the frustration of the "close but no cigar" encounters of the FB team but could equally well be also applied to MBB in the immediate past and also WBB in the recent (but not immediate) past.

Still, I wouldn't be willing to trade FB places with the recent Miami or Kent's one time wonder teams and then back to the cellar history either as that article also points out.

I also liked the intriguing question posed at the end: "If not now, then when?"-----although I am not sure that we will like the answer once it unfolds whenever that may be.

The article also pointed out a potential scenario that I have worried about since PJ Fleck started reeling in his heralded recruiting classes-----namely, the year UT finally figures out how to beat NIU could very well be the first of several years that WMU wins the west.

I realize this is not the most blindly optimistic perspective out there and I hope it doesn't send any of the "Suzy Sunshine" crowd into tachycardia, but I have seen enough missed opportunities in the past 5 years to justify a bit of caution if not full blown pessimism.

My thoughts exactly about the possible surge of WMU vs possible decline of NIU and our relative position to both. Can UT ramp it up or are we a status quo type program. Next season is key!!!!!!!

Go Rockets!

Historically, most MAC champions have had a top quarterback. Do we?

Article states that we didn't sign a QB in the incoming freshmen class...incorrect, unless someone knows something--is Mitch Guadagni no longer coming here?

He was referring to last year's (2014) recruiting class. When Toledo did not sign a QB, when Smith darted for Wake Forrest (later to leave). (Note: Pinkel always tried to sign 2 per class. You know, in case.....)

We did sign a QB for the 2014 class. All though it was well after the rest of the class signed.

You are correct. He was referring to national signing day. His mistake in the article.

I guess we will see what Fleck can do with all the supposed talent going there. We had it for 4 straight years and have no championship. I guess I don't see Fleck as being a great coach despite all his gimmicks. His team fell apart when it mattered

Rockets were #2 or 3 according to some of the recruiting service. That's with WMU having bigger signing classes, I wouldn't be too concerned.
Kareem Hunt was a 2 atar recruit by some services. I think the staff
has done a great job getting student/athletes for the FB program.
