Adam Smith Virginia Tech.
I saw a tweet today that said Adam Smith, guard at Va Tech was going to transfer and be eligible immediately as a graduate transfer. Said he would be highly sought after.

Ehsan coached at Va Tech and Rob Brown played there. Is this guy good and do we have any comment ions to him. Is he someone we would be interested in.

I saw and thought the same thing. He and Robert would have played together. Bet Ehsan has eyes on him.

He transferred in to VaTech from UNC-Wilmington(?) so I don't think there is any real "relationship". Oftentimes guys transfer closer to home, though - he's from Jonesboro, Ga...

He would be our answer for the shooting guard spot. He was VT's leading scorer last year and shot over 40% from three.

He and Robert never played a game together, but I believe Smith's transfer year was Robert's last at VT, so they at least practiced together.

He's the type of player that would take us to the next level.

Western, what's the recruiting calender like in the next month or two? Not familiar with early signing period and what not.

I would imagine UAB will wait until Ingram makes his move or at least tells Haase that he is not considering UAB. A "one and done" though would be better than an empty seat on the bench.

I'm sure we are at least interested here. He would also help fix the lopsided classes.

Would he be eligible immediately since he's already sat out one transfer year?

Yes. Assuming he graduates in May, he'd be a graduate transfer.

Apr 15 - May 20

Remember players DO NOT HAVE TO SIGN THE LOI TO PLAY COLLEGE BASKETBALL. They can sign scholarship papers, only, if they choose and the college agrees to it. The scholarship papers would tie the school to the athlete(school has to have a scholarship for him if/when he comes to campus), but not the athlete to the school(he can still choose to go elsewhere)...

Sounds like a better player than Ingram to me.

If both wanted to come to UAB, we would make room.

That said, I doubt we're even on Smith's short list.
