Vols hoops since 2010 - About to be 4th coach, a Sweet 16 & Elite 8. Tigers since 2010 - 1 coach, 2 tourney wins

The elite 8 was with Pearl and the Sweet 16 was luck....but it still hurts to read that!

Memphis hoops since April 2010 - 1 coach and 4 NCAA appearances

Vols hoops since April 2010 - 4 coaches, 2 NCAA appearances and 1 (make that probably 2) Show Causes

But we run the dirty program. Smh.

In all fairness, Tyndall didn't do anything improper at UT.

In all fairness, they hired a cheater. After they just fired one. Still smh.

I would have to believe that Tyndall is either receiving a show cause, or the NCAA told UT that they also have some items forthcoming that deal with UT. I dont think UT would have fired him otherwise.

What coach would go there if the NCAA had **** on UT?

NCAA should be the four letter starred word, not ****.

You can't really feel sorry for Tyndall. The NCAA obviously has something on him, otherwise Tennessee keeps him around. Logically, the NCAA would have nailed him had he stayed at Southern Miss as well.

So, he was likely getting nailed either way.

At least, by taking the Tennessee job, he got a big fat paycheck for 1 year.

Athletic director Dave Hart fired Tyndall on Friday morning because he felt any other course of action would have been impractical given the punishment the NCAA is likely to levy against the coach. Tyndall reportedly is under investigation for academic misconduct and impermissible benefits for players during his two-year stint at Southern Mississippi from 2012-14.

“It is disappointing that we have to take this action,” Hart said in a release. “It is highly likely that Coach Tyndall will face significant penalties at the conclusion of the NCAA’s infractions process. We believe that this decision is in the best interests of the University of Tennessee.”

Not a bad list by any stretch, give or take a few names. I may like the last one the best.

This will involve tampering with transcripts of juco transfers. DT had to fire an assistant for something VERY STUPID after his first year. That asst has a friend in the ncaa offices. We then got ratted out.

The compliance officer that turned a blind eye to this happening works for you now. Jason Gray.
We were surprised that dt got canned. First its a requirement to cheat in the sec. Second if you go back he fired 2 assistants he took with him just before the season started. We thought those two would become the scapegoats and donnie would walk free.

Tennessee Fires Donnie Tyndall
March 27th, 2015 7:59 am

Tennessee has fired head coach Donnie Tyndall after one season, multiple sources confirmed to SNY.tv.

“Just got the word he’s done,” one source said.

Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com first reported the news.

Tennessee finished 16-16 this season.

Tyndall met with Tennessee AD Dave Hart Thursday night after NCAA officials spoke with Tennessee officials earlier Thursday to provide details of what allegations would be levied against Tyndall, CBSSports.com reported Thursday.

Tyndall was being investigated by the NCAA for his time at Southern Miss from 2012-14.

Tennessee has two signed recruits in small forward Admiral Schofield and shooting guard Shembari Phillips.

Some could argue MEMPHIS was lucky in their Elite 8 run in 2006. After whipping ORU in first game, playing Bucknell and Bradley instead of Arkansas and Kansas made it a cakewalk to the West Regional Final.

Since we are all about pursuing truth....it's also true that Knoxville is a "radioactive wasteland" due to Pearl and Tyndall committing NCAA violations. The Vols are the college equivalent of Chernobyl.
