It doesn't matter, amigo.

Next year is the THE year. All the Joe Insiders have said so.

Last year was just a rebuilding year after all. You're ALLOWED to have a down year now and then.

Just sit back and enjoy the new guys and the Lawsons.

I'm sure the summer will give the Joe Insiders plenty of time to concoct new narratives for when the whole thing goes off the rails.

I don't think even the biggest nerd on the planet would have the gall to trot out the inexperience narrative again next year.

Good grief. We are averaging 7 newcomers per year under JP. This doesn't even touch on the assistants. That's a lot of shuffling.

That's why I got a laugh this past year about "all the newcomers" that Pastner was having to meld. Shite, it happens damn near every year.

Just think, the following year Memphis will lose at least Kedren, Shaq, Burrell and likely Austin (to the NBA) and any grad transfers that come in this year.

He's got three players signed so is he going to have to go get three or four more so we can run practices?

I don't think it's the volume exactly. If you have 13 scholarships, you should be turning over around 3 a year on 4 yr eligibility, might have 1 early draft candidate (whether it is a good idea or not), and one transfer, even two on a bad year.

So a 3-6 per year number makes sense. Make the average around 5-ish for a normal program, I'm thinking. So we're definitely high-ish I'm guessing.

Actually as I'm writing this post, what does a 'normal' program turnover? I would assume some programs that construct primarily with underclassmen probably turnover more than programs that mainly groom 4 year players.

What is the 'average' or 'normal'? Honest question.

Good analysis, but in this instance we're not talking Godfrey leaving and things like that.

We're talking 6 players since last year who have decided to leave the program, maybe 7 in Hawkins is gone.

We can crunch averages all day long and whatnot, but it's not normal.

End of story on this situation.

Larry Kenon was a newcomer in '73. There may be some sleepers out there (probably not like Kenon). Haven't you guys ever heard Forrest Gump say,"Newcomers are like a box of chocolates."? On the other side, Josh will never build a great team with an attrition rate like he had this year no matter the reason.
