Huh? If you're going to talk out of your ass at least stand up so we can understand you.

This.

And, expansion is just as likely to come from the other direction as well, once Texas and OU (and perhaps 2 others) accept an offer for the Pac 12.

That would start a feeding frenzy in itself.

There is a reason the Big 12 hasn't expanded. Texas already agreed to TCU and WVU. I simply don't see them going forward with adding more teams as opposed to shopping their wares elsewhere.

That would leave an SWC implosion scenario, in which the carcass gets picked by the AAC/MWC, like the WAC/CUSA did with the former SWC.

Interesting proposal, but not right now. But if we had to join a conference, it should be the AAC.

Tidewater/Norfolk area is not a market that ODU even comes close to being an important presence

That's why we sell out all football games, plan to build a larger stadium, and average around 7k+ in basketball. You are very off base.

LOL true...ODU outdraws at least 50% of the ACC right now in Football

I'm talking actual butts in seats not some magical number announced.

How do you know the difference between the actual butts in seats and this "magical number"?
Are you using an eye test?

What does this eye test tell you? This is Syracuse football, buddy.

Happy to say it againODU is a 3rd or 4th choice in the 757 and is essentially a start up that has not proven it can win at the FBS level. It will take a decade to prove it turn corner in football. I rreally do not think it was that hard to understand the first time.

You are exactly right, and my post was referring to if we are somehow left on the outside looking in with no chance of playing in the new division of college football. If we are completely left out with no other options Id much rather play App Charlotte ODU and Coastal than Tulsa, Temple, SMU, and Tulane. Sorry not sorry.

You say no one will buy a ticket if we are in the same conference as them. I think if it got to that point we wouldnt be selling tickets regardless if it was Temple or App coming to town.

Obviously we need to keep chopping wood and hope we can break through at some point

I won't argue that we're not attracting the top level of the 757 yet and the rest is speculation so I'll just say we'll see but I'd love to hear you defend that last comment about being more down than up.

ODU has the most potential out of anyone in the c-usa. They fit like a glove in our region. I think they get 35k a game with an aac schedule and obviously a bigger stadium

The only thing to understand is how wrong you are. You're sounding like a JMU fan.
It's fair to admit part of our success is contributed to being the only show in town in a large metro area, and the hottest ticket at that.

LMAO. ok. Bold words from a fan of one of the last teams invited to the party...

I like ECU. I think ECU is a good fit in the AAC. If you want to be in a MAC style bus league, I am fine with that.
I, on the other hand, like the traditions of every school in our conference. We've pretty much all been players at the highest level, either through affiliations or achievements. I can't imagine playing a bunch of scrubs that never did anything on a national level.

I like the AAC too and would like to see us grow and develop as a conference. But if the time comes and we lose lets say, UCF USF UCONN Cincy and wheover else, Id rather be in a regional conference (bus league) than a spread out conference like the current CUSA. If ECU is left out of the club and isnt a part of a "new division" wouldnt it make sense to play regional teams?

In no way am I saying Id rather have that regional conference now instead of the current AAC

This. Swap "ECU" for "UC" and this is pretty much how I feel too.

Tidewater/Norfolk area is not a market that ODU even comes close to being an important presence

01-wingedeagle HRVA is definitely a market and ODU is an incredibly important part of that market. We are the major public university for an area with a population of 1.7 million with ~25,000 active students.

ODU is not an important presence?? Looks like you need to make a trip to Norfolk soon to refresh your memory.

Never been to your area, but I watched part of 2 different odu home games. Crowd was into it and it was packed although a very small stadium. I can only imagine the potential grows if you ever get the chance to get into the aac with overall bigger fanbases and more exposure. I bet you guys end up #1 on our list of we ever need an all sports team.

Lived in the area for several years, your not fooling anyone who knows the area with what type of influence ODU carries in the Tidewater region with the general population and with high school players .This is not a pejorative just an honest observation.
