Tulsa
Temple
Tulane
SMU
WKU
UTEP
FAU
FIU

or one that is more regional such as

ECU
ODU
Charlotte
Coastal
App
Georgia State
Georgia Southern
Add in another VA school

Lets pray this never happens. But itd be regional, and at that point why would you not want that?

I hope it doesn't ever come to this but what you're saying makes sense financially because at that point fan support would be slim to none. I personally would be done with ECU athletics at that point.

RE: ODU
exactly and if we are going to have play crap teams (we would be crap then too) we might as well play crap teams with alumni close enough that we can interact with on a daily basis.

Well, looks like if I ever need a "general population" opinion I can phone up ol' baruna. ODU is a <10 year old program, still hasn't quite reached a level we are competing with P5 programs for most of our recruits (but this can change quickly, and there are several ODU players who had P5 offers), and I can't wait to see what the "general population" opinion is in 5 years. Hope you'll stick in the area for the ride.

Liberty would be good for you too

Say their name two more times and your board will explode.

Give me Liberty Liberty. Or give me death death.

Tidewater/Norfolk area is not a market that ODU even comes close to being an important presence

That's why we sell out all football games, plan to build a larger stadium, and average around 7k+ in basketball. You are very off base.

LOL true...ODU outdraws at least 50% of the ACC right now in Football

I'm talking actual butts in seats not some magical number announced.

03-lmfao

Mean like Syracuse...where the hometown newspaper wrote this about their season opening game in 2014:

The Dark Side

The announced attendance was 33,299. The "actual butts in seats count" was about 10,000 lower than that.

Then from said same hometown newspaper in Syracuse, it said this of a Syracuse home conf game back in 2013:

The announced attendance at the Carrier Dome was 35,317. A source told ESPN Radio's Chris McManus that the actual turnstile count was around 21,000. That is a pretty poor showing for a team that was in position to clinch a bowl game.

03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

Its funny to see a BCS/P5 fan talked about some "magical announced attendance figures", when his own team does this (and more)...as crowds in the 21,000-22,000 for any P5/BCS schools is embarrassing (and funny at the same time).

RE: ODU
Troll I see the obsession continues...it was against a 1AA team over Labor Day weekend while the State Fair was on.

Did I ever say we don't play the announced/actual game? No I didn't as I have stated before that almost every school does it.

My point was ODU has near capacity crowds. You are on ignore now.

RE: ODU
ODU is a quality program that is constantly growing and improving. It sits in a recruiting hotbed for Football and Basketball that has produced the talent that put VA Tech on the map for football. VA Beach is the largest city in VA and has both a good traditional fan base plus a great transient population based on the huge military presence in the area. They were in the running for MLB expansion in the last round, and support several colleges as well as AAA baseball and AHL hockey. With VA Beach as a great destination and a local major airport with discounted prices, it would be a good expansion option. ODU supports their sports and has a growing program.

The conference basketball tourney would be awesome.

Add ODU and rotate the tournament between Philly, Orlando, Norfolk, and TX (mini rotation of Dallas and Houston). That way regardless of who's hosting its a city fans would flock to and can enjoy if their team is knocked out early.
