Maybe that explains the team not improving beyond mediocre.

$31000 will not even cover the rental cars at a big time program on a recruiting trip. A private jet at KU or MU will run you about $2000 a hour unless the big time donor just writes his jet time off as a donation.

With one of the best basketball cities in the world 60 miles away all you need is a rental car. Unfortunately a lot of the local kids aren't staying in Illinois these days but it's not just an NIU problem.

Hell, not even a rental car. The local dealers give cars to NIU for coaches, all you have to pay for would be gas and tolls.

$31,000

Man, have MAC football coach salaries blown up. It was just a short time ago that $200K was a good salary in the MAC.

A couple things, more of the revenue for ticket sales comes in the form of donations were UT leads so don't let the ticket revenue fool you. All suit holders and premium seats are donations as we have full suits in both venues so they are tax deductible. Akron isn't making the most money, they are spending the most. The most important numbers are who is needing the least amount of student fees and direct institutional support. Universities won't be able to keep taking money from students for long as enrollment pressures grow. Fbecause of that UT paired down the amount of sports a decade ago because the president at the time wanted athletics to no longer need direct instution support which literally is money coming from the academic side. We don't have sports like wrestling, gymnastics, etc. We also don't have soccer and hockey. I see many MAC schools are reviewing expenses now so I beleive many will cut some sports as well as they are not MAC required. I love all the info, thanks for posting. Cheers!

Didn't know if you or MD would be the first to reply. Have to admin that I'm surprised that 'suit holders' have that kind of scratch:)
