Quote:Oh, about that video put together by part of your PR squadron. Solid work. Haase looks like a hostage. Your ability to make everyone in your presence uncomfortable is surpassed only by your ability to unite UAB people like no one since Gene Bartow.

Despite your condescending attitude toward them, true UAB people know what they know. They know you, and they want you gone. Haase can stay until he retires and win a national title along the way, and that true fact won't change.

I like Jerod Haase, I think he is a good coach and a great recruiter. And if Coach Haase is bringing in the donations, keeps recruiting well and keeps winning, he will be worth it.

But just think where our Basketball program would be if Watt's handlers had just given Mike Anderson his F'ing sweet 16 bonus check 11 years ago.

That and tried to give him a salary increase.

I think Haase can do great things here. Just like football with the right coach UAB can win Championships.

The tone of that article is in the exact same vein as the thread here. No one is fooled by his pandering. It's basically the same thing that happened with the soccer field except the painfully obvious attempt to put some PR spin on it is more pronounced. No matter how we collectively feel about the things that come afterwards, it has always been apparent that the first order of business is making sure Dr. Watts is gone.

It's great that Coach Haas got this commitment; I wish that he didn't have sit there in what was obviously a staged interview designed to polish Watts rotten apple.

Doesn't this scum wad know that he should have resigned yesterday. Strange to say, but I hope that the BOT puts out another statement of complete confidence in Watts so we can take down the entire rotten bunch at the same time. Either Watts goes down now or the BOT goes down with him later.

Does that mean there is another 124 pages of instructions from Slab & Verbennie that we haven't seen ?

Also, excellent article.

I just had this thought about BBHC Haase's new contract which I presume none of us has seen. WHAT IF his agent, in writing the new contract, specified that his tenure at UAB is conditional upon UAB maintaining a D1 BB program in a D1 conference? There could also be damages if UAB drops D1 BB to a lower level conference.

So what if he specified Haase gets a Snickers bar every time his team scores at least 50 points.

I'm sure Haase held out for Peanut Depot.

UAB is not going to drop D1 basketball. If they considered this to be even a remote possibility they wouldn't be paying Hasse a million bucks a year. Worst case they drop into a weaker conference like the OVC or the SoCon. Honestly I think by making this kind of commitment to the program they don't expect that to happen. Either they remain in CUSA somehow or they end up in a better conference like the MVC or the A10 or they move somewhat laterally to a conference like the CAA. If any conference has concerns about our commitment to athletics, or at least basketball, after the football debacle then this should help ease them.

This puts his salary on par with some of the highest paid coaches from non P5 schools. After one good year. That's significant.

It still won't keep him here if the conference move happens and is botched.

I have no faith in good things for athletics if Watts is anywhere near them.
