During Finch era the Tigers future was hanging on Penny. Far worst teams than we had this year before he signed. .

Bingo.

I wouldn't write off Shaq or Austin just yet.

WB achieved as expected.
JJ achieved as expected.

AN achieving as expected.

All, with the possible exception of Iverson, were expected to be first round draft picks. None were first round draft picks (possibility for Nichols). None went to a Sweet 16 or better. By what metric did they achieve expectations?

AT LMAO? Perhaps, I am missing something? The guy was a 5* and top 15-20 player...

Ya, you are right. They were expected to come in and be average players, never make it past the first round of the tournament, and never sniff the NBA... That seems more along the lines of expectations for the level of recruits they were.

So, again what are your metrics to say they met expectations?

RE: The Pressure Keeps Mounting For The Lawsons ...
In terms of pressure on PLAYERS.

The pressure is squarely on Nichols and Shaq.

Junior and Senior, now their team completely, time to step up and take the heat.

Joe Jackson's last two seasons saw the teams basically remain in the top 25, go on huge winning streaks, advance in the NCAA tourney, go undefeated in conference, knock off a really good Louisville team not once, but twice, knock off several ranked teams, definitely turning a corner...and still get crucified for falling short of the Sweet 16 and having some losses be by big margins.

Time to turn that level of scrutiny squarely on Nichols' shoulders. He likely will embrace it.

While that may be unfair, that is how it has worked...I suspect we will be led by him, be a top 25 caliber team all season, have some big wins, then it will still come down to that one game in March.

Memphis was ranked less than half of Joe's junior year and didn't receive a single vote in about a third of it. 31-5 in C-USA wasn't impressing many sportswriters by then.

different day and age...we were lucky to get penny...he was prop 48 among other things...and finch was being road blocked at every turn when trying to recruit Memphis..

PLUS the fact that he was getting sick at the time

Shaq as expected?

He was a Mc DAA who is one of the few who doesn't average double digits in scoring. Made the CUSA All-freshman team but no other post-season accolades. Similar numbers to Tony Parker, who most admit has been a disappointment.

Or even before it begins. Some posters are brutal here. I have always been willing to give every Tiger the benefit of the doubt till I see them play at least a half a season, then decide if they are trying or not. If they play hard and hustle they will have no complaints from me, not that they'd care. I'm willing to be patient. I didn't start to dog Shaq till this past season. Just glad he pulled out of it. He still makes stupid plays but started hustling. We need him next year, so hope he's still got the fire he found in the last 10 games or so.

Only if they transfer

Not necessarily. Joe was thrown under the bus by one of our better posters for a rumor that he might transfer. An entire diatribe about "listening to grandma"

I saw him play a couple of times in high school. I knew what to expect. He wasn't close to being the best player in Atlanta that year. But he got the McD appointment so good for him. Shaq has been a good Tiger. I hope he finishes strong.

Who was out of curiosity? If u know that is...I Always thought shaq would be a 10-12 ppg and 7-8 rpg for his career just on his motor and athletic ability alone with a little bit of skill.
