Why did OM let Dan Jones go?
I know there are some OM posters in here? Jones seemed like a good guy. Was surprised to see him let go.

RE: Why did OM let Dan Jones go?
I was wondering the same thing.

The state board voted to NOT renew his contract. That made me wonder what he did or who did he tick off.

Well, today's Clarion-Ledger has the following article:

Board VP: UMMC issues led to Jones' contract nonrenewal

Quote:Multiple policy violations regarding spending and contract procurement at University of Mississippi Medical Center were the undoing of Ole Miss chancellor Dan Jones.

Quote:Instead, widespread and repeated violations of contract procurement procedures and shoddy financial reporting to the Board that went unchecked is why Jones will no longer serve as chancellor once his contract ends in September.

The audit Perry referenced lists several violations: UMMC not getting Board approval for contracts in excess of $250,000, not getting approval for leases in excess of $100,000 and the medical center not being able to produce documents related to contracts the Board and auditors questioned. The audit singled out a gamma knife – a piece of sophisticated medical equipment used to operate on tumors – UMMC bought but had never installed.

Widespread and repeated violations of contract procurement procedures.....Hmmm sounds like someone didn't get the contract they wanted.

The bottom line is that Haley Barbour and a law firm that he is in bed with were not pleased with him. Vast sums of money were not being funneled to the law firm so he had to go. Ask John Grisham and Archie Manning about it. They know the truth.
