1900s
Just a non-sport thought for today, there are kids in high school that never lived in the 1900s.

Might as well get used to it. I realized I was getting old when I started seeing the kids of former players I watched play college and pro ball.

In the past few years I have noticed that a few of our recrruits have parents who are a few years younger than me. I am only 42.

I am turning the legal drinking age in a few days. I was feeling ok, until I saw this.

Thanks for burying my childhood.

My little brother is one of them. He turns 15 in 2 weeks and is a freshman (I am 29). He broke my heart by deciding not to pursue basketball any further this year. He was better than I was at his age, and several inches taller... 03-banghead He did make the JV baseball team at least.

RE: 1900s
A guy that works for me literally had no idea what "Be Kind, Please Rewind" referred to. He was born the year I graduated high school.

I mentioned something from the early 90's (still thinking it was "just the other day"), and he said he was still crawling. I told him, hey that was my freshman year of college, I spent lots of nights crawling too!

Today most kids:

Don't understand the concept of fast fwd & rewind.

Have never heard of a dial phone.

Have rarely seen phones with cords or bulky cpu/tv screens.

Don't know how to put a VCR into a VCR player.

Can only think of photo-taking, photo development, and photo saving in a strictly electronic sense.

But they do know:

How to sync an Ipod.

How to fully use an Ipad.

How to work a TV cable box.

YouTube, Facebook, etc.

When the oldies station started playing Motley Crue, I was very sad. When I heard Gn'R and Faith No More, I resigned myself to my fate as an old person. Damn you oldies station!

I'm teaching the kids of the kids I taught back in the 90's. When the kids I taught in the 90's see me still teaching, it makes them feel old too.

I recall a few years back seeing an old gray haired guy with a big gut wearing his GnR shirt. I thought to myself, look at this old man trying to look cool! Then I realized he was probably only a couple years older than me...and I'm just a few more gray hairs away from looking like him!

LOL.... sad but true...

Funny thing is, those bands are arguably still around, most bands starting now won't last that long, nor will their fans care that long.
