I would never vote for him in a gazillion years, but at least Cruz has an intellect that I've yet to ever see in Rick Perry. Maybe I'm just a little bias on Cruz's part because his mom is a Rice grad.
The only parallel is Harvard Law. Aside from that, their backgrounds couldn't be more different.

Harvard law and half a Senate term in a state that rewards partisanship.

What could possibly go wrong?
So you think he toes the party line???

He has faults, but he's closer to the center of American political opinion than Obama.

He would be a good governor of Texas. He could certainly win that.

Cruz suffers from Rush Limbaugh syndrome ... leftists criticize both of them, but can't point out anything the two of them said that was wrong.

I love seeing all the liberal trolls online all of a sudden become racist, intolerant, vitriol-spewing idiots.

Wait, they've been like that all along.

There is a key fact being left out of the way this is being reported in 99.99% of all places. Convocation at Liberty is always mandatory, regardless of who is speaking, but you won't see that mentioned in any of the headlines. The few stories that do mention this also make sure to specify that there was no forced 'endorsement' of Cruz, or in other words that the students were not pressured to support, applaud, or cheer in any way.

convocation at my school was also "mandatory" but I don't recall going after freshman year.

I wouldn't vote for him, but I plan to get a lot of mileage out of things like "You can't possibly think you're smarter than a Harvard Law grad" and "Why don't you just call him a spick?" anytime anyone takes a position against any of his stances.

The spic line won't work. His mother is white if I'm not mistaken so that makes him a "white-hispanic". His ethnicity is diluted and his Hispanic heritage dismissed since he is a conservative. Obama, being a liberal, was forced to overcome his "whiteness" and is readily identified as black.

I'd be that's how it would get play in the media anyways. Cruz is conservative so the race issue doesn't apply.

No one else for either party has declared. My guess is that he has scared them all off.

This will give him and rand paul more time to micromanage our lives in DC. My guess is they will team up for a multi trillion dollar anti snow sledding defense contract for capitol hill. contrat

Fox would have a field day with Cruz were he a democrat...keep in mind I know that none of the following are issues in the least...but you know damn well Fox would make it so..if he were a democrat.

Born in Canada
Goes by his middle name rather than his first name which might be too ethnic for some.
Father supported and fought for Fidel Castro.

The one question I do have is how can a man with his education, including a Harvard Law degree, not realize he had dual citizenship?
