The ACC is kicking butt and taking names, hopefully Louisville takes care of business tonight and puts 5 ACC teams in the sweet 16.

I feel bad that I didn't warn you newbies. The Wahoos may win some big games, but NEVER hang your hopes of UVA to win any championships... unless it's something like women's tennis or some other sport that nobody ever watches on TV.

UNC, Duke, Louisville, even NC State have won the NCAA-T before. Notre Dame has never won this, but they are no strangers to the big game.

UVA still has an empty case in their football office that says "This area is reserved for a conference championship trophy"

Not REALLY, but they might as well... UVA fans try to poke fun at VT fans about the empty trophy, but at least the Hokies ASPIRE to win a football championship, and HAVE WON several conference championships. I think UVA only aspires to have a really nice cotillion ball in the Spring...

Virginia has two ACC football championships.

They also won the ACC in basketball last year and I agree with BornAJacket about the injury bug.

This thread took a weird turn.

I see that UVa has two "co-championships", but no outright championships in football.

20 years ago Virginia was better than 7 ACC teams at least. I guess that's something for them to celebrate.

Hey, that's probably a reasonable goal for UVa - to be better than 7 of the 14 ACC teams! GENIUS!

But that was a co championship....with UVA. The number Duke is looking for is 1962. That was their last outright championship. Unlike UVA, Duke has one.

I was considering the "modern era" to be since the beginning of an actual ACC Championship game. 01-lucy

Fewer than half of ACC schools have won the ACC championship game since its inception. Only two have won it more than once.
