RE: UT Wrestler With "Foxcatcher" Ties
kind of interesting saying that he was not impressed with Mark Schultz because he had a close match with him, then lost 17-8. Just a weird statement to make when you get beat that badly because Schultz may have been pacing himself for that grueling tourney and probably didn't think that much of him either. I met Biggert after college and hung around with him a few times when he was around Oregon regularly. He was a fairly quiet guy and definitely not a bragger - which is why I thought his comment seemed strange and out of character.
Also - never heard of a "Japanese lizard" as a wrestling move. the writer must have misheard what Biggert said - because it is called a Japanese Whizzer (actually referred to as a Jap Whizzer). Article makes it sound like Schultz placed a reptile on Biggert - then it would have made more sense about not being impressed with him...

BTW - I saw the movie as well and it was difficult to watch. Steve Carell should get an Oscar for his portrayal of DuPont. The guy was weird and it just felt creepy watching him and knowing how it was going to end. Not that great of a movie overall, but it did capture the wrestling part fairly well, but it was a slow moving story line. Ruffalo was not a believable Dave Schultz - who was perhaps the greatest wrestling technician of his time. Channing Tatum looked like a wrestler that was in peak condition. Don't know if the drug part was true - was either Hollywood or a well hidden secret.
