Don't miss the one in the US in 2017. I know it goes across southern Illinois and Missouri and I'm not sure what other states. I have not seen one yet in person and by all accounts it's much more impressive than any video or pictures that someone can take.

I think they generally lose the sun for months at a time, so I don't think that aspect would bother them.

I remember using a pinhole in a shoebox to view a partial eclipse when I was a kid. I'm not sure I've seen the diamond ring or not. Certainly not as dramatic as in this video.

It looks like Yellowstone National Park is right in the band of greatest eclipse. This could make for some nice vacations. August 21 is close to the start of school in this part of the country.

We usually go to Hilton Head in June but might have to go in August that year. Right overhead.

If it was a partial eclipse then you wouldn't have seen the diamond ring effect, since that requires basically a tiny spot on limb of the moon to be the only spot where sunlight is not eclipsed with respect to the Earth, for a brief period anyway.
The view through a telescope with a hydrogen-alpha filter can be interesting too, though certainly not the WOW factor of a total eclipse.
Yellowstone is only 99.69% eclipsed, Grand Teton is 100%
I thought it was something like that, but you could vacation at Yellowstone, then drive out of the park to grand Teton or elsewhere to view the Eclipse. I'm sure there are other nice parks where you could see the Eclipse as well. I. Wondered if it came near whatever park in California it is...memory fails me...
Yosemite.
And, as I the full eclipse misses California altogether, I'd take that as a no.
