Inconveniencing people can turn them away from your cause very very quickly.

Or it could draw in their support.

Last time I would say it gained support.

True as long as we get cleared to do it.

Or getting their craniums cracked open.

I think in this era of police behavior under scrutiny, arrest is more likely. At least until safely out of sight in the police station.

And that is the problem. The only way things will change is by standing up to what people expect and not backing down.

Sit-in in the admin building? UAB police might have to pull some arrests, but they won't rough anyone up.

You can't get inside the admin building anymore, unless the police guard on every door has been relaxed. I doubt it has.

You do know that we camped one side of twentieth in front of the admin building for a couple of days already, right? With the UAB police blocking traffic for us?

I did not know that and that is the problem. We need more people there, more publication. A multiple day thing might be fine but a large protest out of nowhere will really catch peoples attention. And how long ago was that. UAB is finally in the spotlight, lets take advantage of it.

That was the day before and the day of the football shutdown. I agree about one large protest unexpectedly, and I think that it needs to be as large as we can manage. I would hope that something of the sort is planned in the near future. If so, it will be planned somewhere that is not open to the public.

No offense but you have an account that was opened in March and has ten posts. If something like that were planned, you'd find out when everyone else did.

Fair but just because i made this account this month does not mean that I have not been following it for longer than that. What about FUSO and the advancements Tim Alexander has accomplished to spread the word. Whenever he speaks people listen. Signs around Campus, twitter, Facebook, and IG posts can easily spread the word if done right. The problem is getting it to the right people. The people like the ones following this forum have already made up there mind. We need to reach out to the community and students that do not particularity care about athletic programs to show how much of an impact the University and its well-being has on the community.

That we do, and I welcome anything you can muster on that front. There are lots of resources available as far as information and facts on what has happened and what is at risk. There are many old school UAB people here and on the various Facebook groups who can fill you in on history, point out details you might not be aware of. Freeuab.org has a lot of things in one place, for instance.

I was not trying to smack you down with the above post. The simple reality is that Direct Communications, the lobbying firm hired by Watts to polish his image, has people working over the comments section of al.com, spinning anything to do with UAB. We know that there are plants/moles in various places, and it's simple good sense to be a bit reserved right now.

Jump in and help in any way that feels right. If you are from Alabama, start with writing your representative and senator, and that is doubly true if you not from the Birmingham area.

Yeah, one of the biggest problems is engaging apathy.

A lot of people simply don't know that UAB being diminished in any capacity is bad for us all. Sadly, a lot of the narrative has spun to be as dismissive as possible.

All it takes is just the right effort at the right time to accomplish things.

I wish we could play the basketball pregame video as a commercial. That makes me pretty grateful to live in Birmingham.
